yes...!!..why not...??
Do it for PETA....!!
It is possible.
Before I went vegetarian ( I am now vegan), my diet was pretty bad, not a lot of fruit and veg or pulses or nuts or healthy grains... and a lot of junk food.
But, I realised that I could no longer eat meat anymore, for ethical reasons, so I stopped eating it.
I am now vegan, and I've discovered how great healthy food can be. I was stuck in such a rut when I ate meat, and even when I was vegetarian, but now I love my veggies and fruit, and all sorts of food that I had never tried before. (I eat and love seaweed!! - that would have sounded insane if someone had suggested it to me 4 years ago) You'll probably find that you grow to love the food that you don't like at the moment, or have never even tried.
My experience
How can someone not like vegetarian food to be a successful and healthy omnivore it means having a balance between vegetables and ethically sourced meat and that does not mean having meat and two veg with every meal.
The problem with diets now it is too meat intensive and we are not getting the proper nutrients so developing a lot of disease and problems.
Curries are quite nice for a vegetarian option and I quite like it and find it my most common option.
Of course, it just means you don't like the treatment/killing of animals. However, there are so many foods out there and a variety of ways to cook them that I bet you can find some you like.
You could also consider yourself and ethical vegetarian and a nutritional meat eater.
There are so many themes on this find what works for you!
You have absolutely no idea how many fruits, veggies, grains, etc etc etc there are in the world!!! It's incredible. There's an international food store around here, and what I just love to do is pick up foreign fruits, veggies, and other products , and experiment.
Even if you THINK you may not like veggies or fruits or other non-meat non-seafood items, it's probably just you haven't tried ENOUGH of them (the stereotypical carrots, brocolli, cauliflower, peas bit can be tiresome), or they were cooked wrong (some parents, for example, may WAY overcook veggies so their mush----disgusting!)
Try using the veggies in different dishes, and cooking them in different ways. Buy a few vegetarian cookbooks. It's MUCH better to buy a veg cookbook (more original more (obviously) veg friendly) than modify traditional meat recipes. Trust me, you'll find tons of things you like.
NO ONE just likes meat and seafood. NO ONE. If they do, they haven't either cooked things the right way, tried them in the right dishes, or had a wide array of veg foods!
Hi Alejandro
I have been a vegetarian for many years as I so object to factory farming methods. I don't like most "vegetarian" food that tries to pretend it is meat. YUK!!
It is possible to have a healthy diet by using beans and pulses as a substitute and I grow most of my food on the allotment. It is all so full of flavour and I feel in tune with the balance of nature as I eat the food that is in season.
Best wishes.
My experience.
You just need to find things you like. The options are endless. If by "vegetarian food" you mean premade heat and eat vegetarian stuff like boca burgers and Qorn, you need to realize that these are not the only vegetarian foods.
there's a wide variety of vegetarian food, more than just veggie burgers and tofu. take a look at this site, you might find something that you like: http://vegweb.com/
good luck :)
Yes. but that sounds like an eating disorder; making up excuses to cover up Anorexia Nervosa.
Worked in mental health since 1987
Usually people who want to continue eating meat but do it ethically go for meat that is ethically produced such as Free Range or organic.
yeo it is i am i try a differnt recipie every week and sometimes i will find a meal i like
Yeah of course, veggie isn't all tofu and greens! A veggies diet can be just as exciting you just need to experiment!
Of course, that's a great reason to be a vegetarian
i am...get decent vegetarian cook book
you have to sacrifice your appetite for innocent lives so i think its a more than fair trade.
There is a world of options out there for vegetarians. Don't look down on it.
If you don't want to stop eating meat, I suggest you support free range and organic instead.
Yes, my mate has been a veggie for 16 years, but doesn't even like veg.
Yes only if you believe in yourself
I would say that is the mindset in 90% of vegans
Yep, it's why I'm vegan
Problem is that our bodies have evolved to be omnivore and consume BOTH meat and veg...
To go against this natural way I consider to be more unethical...
Also since many foods needed by vegans and vegetarians HAVE to be imported, (not all their proteins can be obtained by foods grown in Britain) they are increasing the amount of CO2 used to obtain their food so they are NOT green and therefore somewhat unethical...
Omnivores can obtain all their proteins from foods grown in Britain but often ignore this to go for a greater variety in their diet....
