Can rolled oats be switched for instant oats?!

Question: Can rolled oats be switched for instant oats?
I am making brownies that call for instant oats, but I've only got regular. The brownies get baked in the oven for 30 minutes. Must I worry if I use the latter? Also, it calls for agave nectar. I only have some maple syrup in the house. I think it was asking for 1/3 cup. I assume the sweetness of both is different, so how much should I be using?

If it is the first time making this recipe, I would wait until I had all the ingredients called for.
It is a waste of time and money to make something not up to par.

With the normal oats, your brownies are probably going to be slightly more crunchy and nutritious than they would be with instant oats - and that certainly isn't a bad thing. As for the sweetener, perhaps half a cup of maple syrup? It's probably one of those "to taste" things, such as "salt and pepper to taste". Some people will eat your brownies and find them too sweet, some will find them not sweet enough and some will find them ... juuust riiiiight. [Apologies to Goldilocks]

If you're worried about the oats, and don't want your brownies crunchy or chewy, give them a few seconds in a food processor or a grinder - just a quick burst to cut them in bits and make them cook faster.

they are kind of the same thing.
Rolled oats aren't broken up so much, so the texture will be chewier and less smooth.
It will still be oaty and chewy, even if you use instant oats.

Maple syrup is very sweet like Agave, but Agave is sweeter, so I'd go for half a cup of maple.
