If i'm reading ingredients on a package...?!
Are there any scientific sounding ingredients that are made from animals. I know about gelatin. Any others? Or anything like that?
I just became a vegetarian. Any help at all is much appreciated.

Glycerin, mono-/di-glycerides, and rennet can all be from non-animal sources. For example, rennet can be animal, vegetable, or microbial- you have to contact the company.
The red dye someone mentioned is cochineal, or carmine. 'Red 40', which is usually the red dye I see, is ok. I've only seen cochineal twice: one in red velvet cake and once in a SoBe drink.
Here are just a couple that i know:
Gelatin
Carmine
Rennet
I hope this helps! I know it's not much so here's a link: http://www.squidoo.com/animal-ingredient…
some of the ingredients they put are only for vegans but i think that it'll help
i'm a vegetarian
If you are just a vegetarian you just don't eat the actual animal itself. So you don't have to worry about any of that. If you are vegan then you "can't" eat any animal byproducts.
If you're trying to avoid ALL animal-based ingredients, here are a few:
Gelatin, rennet, casein, whey, lard, lecithin, enzymes, natural flavor (can be plant or animal based), honey, lactose, glycerin, and lactic acid.
Some glycerins, mono and diglycerides, and I believe red dye is actually made out of insects.
Vegan
There are many. A list can be found here:
