I applied to a job when should I call back?!

I say you should be persistent when following up but now annoying
stop in when the store is not generally super busy speak to the manager on duty get a name dress like their going to interview you right then come prepared with a copy of your resume too. Oh sorry I say the first follow up should be at least 1 week

Next after you have stopped in to get an updated and name and number give it maybe another week and a half do it again. Heck I say shop there in between say hi to the person that you talked with

The key is keeping your name in front of them

Some people will give you the job JUST because you showed interest in calling back. Do it a week or so later, and keep calling them every few days.

I swear my first job hired me just because they were tired of hearing, "Hello, I called to check on the status of my application..."

I'd give it a week or so. Just call back, ask if they are hiring yet, and explain that you dropped off an application and you are still very interested in the job.

I would call then 3-5 days after turning in your application and just tell them you turned in your application a few days ago and wanted to check on the status of it.
