How was my diet today? Did I eat enough?!

Question: How was my diet today? Did I eat enough?
Ok so here is what I had:
1 packet of oatmeal (100 cals) w/ almond milk (35 cals)
1 handful of blueberries
1 medium bag of frozen fruit-140 calories
a couple tsp of reddi-whip-about 50 cals
1 slice of chocolate cake-270 calories
some strawberries and grapes
about 3-4 tsp of dannon yogurt

Was this enough to eat? I want to lose weight, but I also dont want to deprive myself of the foods I like so I eat them in moderation. I am going to be running on the treadmill for about 1-2 hours later on. How long will it take me to lose weight like this?

Answers:

you did not eat enough. what you should do is eat healthy, and balanced meals, that are smaller, but you eat them more often (i.e 3-5 times in a day). i totally understand not wanting to deprive yourself of foods you like (who on earth could give up a good slice of chocolate cake??), but you should consider unhealthy foods a treat. You should stick to a healthy daily diet, and treat yourself to something that you really want once or twice a week. since you're going running, you will loose weight. if you RUN at a consistant speed throughout the whole time period, you will find that you loose weight faster (by having a steady cardio workout). the thing is, it is NOT HEALTHY to loose too much weight in a short amount of time. for example, if you find that you've lost nearly 20 pounds in a week, then thats bad for you. weight loss should be gradual so that your body and all its internal workings get used to your diet/excercise regime. if you lose weight too fast, you'll also find that your skin gets saggy, and thats not the easiest problem to fix. just remember that your health is the most important thing; don't take any extreme risks that could, in the long run, hurt you. Good luck!
