be careful, it could be meat products. it could be animal fat or animal broth/stock.

There is a chapter on this in fast food nation.
So if you want straight facts get the book.
But from what I remember:
1. Natural flavors are not any "better" then artificial flavors, they are close to the same thing.
2. Ingredients in the "natural flavor" is more often then not a loooooooong list of chemicals, and sometimes even includes animal product (even in things that it makes no sense for animal product to be in)
3. There is no way for you to find out.

Scary but true.

It can really be ANYTHING. :P I'm a vegetarian too. There can be things from oranges to pork but if it says it's suitable for vegetarians then I guess it's fine. It's were the flavourings are extracted from things like a spice, fruit or fruit juice, vegetable or vegetable juice, edible yeast, herb, bark, bud, root, leaf or similar plant material, meat, seafood, poultry, eggs or dairy products and then concentrated.

it depends on the product really. ie: there are vegan bacon bits, but if you see bacon bits in the store that say "natural flavors", its safe to assume theres meat in it. email the company if you want to know what the natural ingredients are.

It honestly can be anything. The FDA has 300 recognized "ingredients" that are categorized as "natural flavor". Try to stay away from things that have "natural flavors" as ingredients, because you honestly will never know what crap you're eating.
