Becoming a vegetarian?!

Question: Becoming a vegetarian?
My friend and i have always wanted to be a vegetarian, and we think we might start it this week. There we certain things we had to consider before becoming one. Our only concern is sticking to it. We've decided that for the next week (starting on Wednesday) we are going to see if we can do it for a full week. My question is, will it affect our health for a week without meat before getting protein supplement pills even if we use common substitutes?
Any suggestions or tips you could give us would be awesome!!
Thanks guys!!

Well it would actually, if youre desperate for meat. Otherwise it wouldn't just carry on

First, there's no such thing as a protein pill, and you wouldn't need it even if there were.
Vegetarians get plenty of protein.
Second, no nutritional deficiency could possible manifest in one week. You could live off of Red Bull and Twinkies for a week and no test would mark the difference.
The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine has a Vegetarian Starter Kit which should answer most of your questions-

1) You don't need protein supplement pills, you can get all the protein you need from eggs/dairy nuts beans, tofu, etc.
2) Vegetarianism is not a "pass/fail" kind of thing. If you do eat meat or other products you are trying to avoid, so what, just keep trying for what you are aiming for and don't be too hard on yourself. No one is perfect at anything.
