Good Vegetarian Diet Ideas?!

Question: Good Vegetarian Diet Ideas?
i have been a vegetarian since October and i have lost about 15-20 lbs since then. mostly because i dont eat much now that i dont eat meat. i try to eat a protein bar at least 2 times a week, and i usually have a veggie burger once a week. i need new food ideas that are really good for me because i need to stay healthy, but are also good. (im a very picky eater). maybe name some brands of good vegetarian meals... i really like Morning Star. also any vitamin suppliments that i could take because im missing out on anything?
anything is appreciated. thanks!

You say vegetarian (not vegan) so there are lots of easy options for you. Yogurt, cottage cheese, regular cheese, eggs.

For vegan options, have some peanut butter on wholegrain crackers (or wholegrain toast). Nuts and trail mix (nuts with dried fruit) is also a great option.

Sometimes "picky eaters" don't like beans, but have you tried hummus? Edamame? vegetarian bean soups and chili?

Try morningstar farms breakfast "sausage". It's a little better if you lightly brown it in a nonstick skillet with a touch of olive oil. (veggie burgers are better that way too). Just microwaving either is ok, but not great.

By the sounds of things you are not eating a well balanced vegetarian diet. You need a protein (beans, pulses) on a daily basis with a helping of carboyhydrate (grains, rice, couscous etc).

Are you eating fruits, vegetables, salads, bean dishes, and healthy bean and/or vegetable based soups? You need to become a nutritarian--one who eats a micro-nutrient rich diet. (As a opposed to someone who eats mostly breads, starches and junk food.) Recommended reading "Eat to Live" by Joel Fuhrman, MD. http://www.drfuhrman.com/ His dietary recommendations are excellent whether one needs to lose weight, eat healthier or both. There are other books that will help you lose weight, but most will not help you improve the nutrient quality of your diet. http://www.drfuhrman.com/

I also highly recommend you learn to cook some vegan meals from scratch. When you rely on packaged foods, you're getting a lot of extra sodium + extra fat and/or sugar. Plus the food is not as fresh. I like the cookbooks "Vegan Vittles" and "The Uncheese Cookbook" both by Joanne Stepaniak.

Supplements: B12, and if you don't live in a sunny place at the latitude of Atlanta or below, vitamin D, particularly from Oct. to April. Instead of multi-vitamins, I prefer whole food powders, this way you get vitamins and phytochemicals that haven't been discovered yet. Also, you won't have the problems of getting the wrong mix of nutrients, for example all beta carotene, but none from alpha or gamma. A couple that I like are Miracle Reds and Macro Greens. http://www.macrolifenaturals.com/home.ht…
