Wanna become a vegetarian?!

Question: Wanna become a vegetarian?
I wanna become a vegetarian but my close minded friend said I would get really weak and if I didn't get protein my body would eat my muscles. I tried to tell him its healthier to be a vegetarian and he wouldn't listen. What are the ups and downs to vegetarianism? And how did you give up meat? What substitutes of protein do you like the best?

Answers:

I personally love vegetarianism. I feel healthier and I've tried soo many new foods that I would've never tried if I still ate meat. I gave up meat cold turkey, I just decided not to eat it anymore. It will be hard at first, but it will get easier with time. There are many ways to maintain a vegetarian lifestyle and still be healthy. Eat a balanced diet that consists of lots of varied veggies, fruits, grains, and dairy products. (Soy if you prefer). Some high protein foods are: Tofu, Soy products, nut, beans, flax seeds, quinoa, faux meat products, etc... I personally love soy based products, they taste great and are high in protein. Vegetarianism is not difficult, and you can stay healthy, you just have to educate yourself and know the right foods to eat.

Peace be upon you!

Pure vegetarianism is not a human instinct. No nuts or other stuffs can provide you minimum required level of protein that meat can provide you. Of-course you can survive without meat and required amount of protein in your body but soon you will prone to many types of protein deficiency diseases.

You could become a lacto vegetarian (consumes dairy products), ovo vegetarian (eats eggs), pescetarian (eats sea food) or a pollotarian (eats everything except red meat).

It is only vegans who don't consume any animal products of any kind.

You can get protein by eating nuts, dried beans, and seeds. Giving up meat isn't easy....the first month is the hardest, then its all simple.

My friend doesn't eat meat and she's f**king hot. And she's not skinny.
