You need to do the research yourself or else your argument won't be persuasive.

There are various sources to research this & i can't say i'm well versed in it, the EU are stopping animal tested products in the next year & half.
One of the main anti-animal testing ideas put forward is that the results obtained from testing on animals isn't applicable to humans, it will give a general idea but the drug/chemical still has to go through various chains before being tested on a human. & also the general health effects shown from long-term use of chemicals.

An alternative is careful procedures to ensure the batch being tested is safe & to use human subjects that are paid & fully aware of the effects that may be caused. + more organic products in general.

Think about it would you rather wash your hair with a cocktail of chemicals or nature derived sources from plants & such?

You can mention that

- animal models for testing do not have great relevance to humans, such as testing depression drugs on rats. How can a rat ever really show human depression like features?
- human cellular and genetic based work of testing drugs, chemicals, new products is more precise and is more relevant to you and me

MSc. in Pharmacology and haved worked with rats in lab before.

Reason 1:
Medical testing on animals is an outdated practice that is flawed. If animal test were reliable than there would not be so many recalled drugs.

Animals systems are far different than humans. Human diseases do not happen in animals, they are artificially created, therefore not the actual disease. Saying that animals are similar is not enough. If you were in a room and were told the air outside was similar to oxygen, but not quite, would you risk you life and go out? Or if I told you my lottery numbers were similar to the winning ones, would you start congratulating me?

Animals are different in many ways, arsenic can be ingested in great amounts by sheep, but would kill any human.

Reason 2:
Animals testing lies, Animals and humans differ in medically important ways, and often animal experiments can produce misleading results. For example, repeated animal studies failed to demonstrate a correlation between cigarette smoking and lung cancer. As a result, public warnings about the dangers of cigarette use were delayed, despite a wealth of compelling human data. Likewise, animal experiments in stroke research led to false conclusions, misleading researchers and wasting time and research funds. Of the 25 drugs which appeared to reduce the effects of stroke in rodents, not a single one worked in human patients.

Species are different and result differ among humans and animals. For example, liver tumors can be induced via chemicals in mice, but the same chemicals do not induce cancer in rats or hamsters. Benzedrine causes bladder tumors in humans, liver tumors in hamsters and middle ear tumors in rats

Reason 3:
Animal experimentation has not helped people nearly as much as it has thwarted progress in the life sciences. Because animal research often gives false or misleading results, it wastes valuable time, often delaying life-saving treatments while rushing questionable and possibly harmful therapies to the marketplace. Some of our most significant breakthroughs in medicine have been made without animals. These include x-rays, MRIs and CT scans.

What needs to be done is focus on the people that have developed the disease. Computer technology has come a long way. There are models, programs, etc. The choice here is not between babies and dogs, it's about real science and fake science.

Hello

The first comment is not great as they guest the drug on rats to see side effects they already know the active ingredients and there are manny different stages of testing from chemical to cell to live animal testing ..

this said I dont think there is a good enough resin to totally rule out the use of animals in tests HOWEVER the system can be improved soooooo mutch for example if they stopes unessery test such as cosmetics and the mod alsso if theynshered information !

Even if you test drugs on cells the body changes substances ...

Rats can live in soap.
Rabbits can live on carrots.
Monkeys have a very fast metabolism and don't get fat like humans.

Animals have completely different chemistry and biology than humans.

Alternative: Make up like the Amazon tribes do- take colours from nature and don't mix with man made chemicals.
For drugs and other substances- test them on humans who are willing to receive CASH.

My advice to you is to search valid sources so that you can cite the material. Things people tell you on here, although helpful, can't be backed up. Try to find information through search engines that result in sites ending with edu or gov.

This could be a good site to use: http://www.peta.org/issues/animals-used-…

They'll have a lot more info than I could give you or would be willing to write at this late of an hour.

test the products on murderers and rapists,
