Don't listen to Yogini. Yes, Muscle Milk IS very popular, but it's only popular because it's popular...not because it's effective.
The whole point in taking a post-workout protein shake is because your body is most receptive to nutrition about an hour after your workout. Muscle Milk is mostly casein protein (a milk protein which makes up 80% of milk), and casein takes about 4 hours to digest...sometimes longer. In other words, you're taking a protein to feed your muscles in that 1-hour window and missing that window by at least 3 hours. Doesn't make sense!
Whey protein, the other protein in milk, digests quicker. Egg protein, soy protein, and pea protein are also fine to take, with pea protein being hypoallergenic so it's good if you have a sensitive stomach. I also like hemp protein, which provides omega-3 and omega-6 essential fats in addition to giving you all your essential amino acids.
The amount of protein you take will depend on your goals and what exactly you do when you lift. If you want to send me a message, I'm happy to evaluate that for you.
Muscle Milk is one of the most popular. It depends on if you're looking for an organic/vegetarian option or not.
