Would this be vegetarian?!
Yes, there are many types of vegetarians; however, my question is concerning those who do not eat the flesh of an animal yet consumes a small portion of processed foods containing animal-derived ingredients, such as gelatin; would you still be considered a vegetarian? or just someone who doesn't eat meat?
(just wondering because I thought that if you were any type of vegetarian you would also avoid those processed foods as opposed to if you just avoided meat entirely then you were simply cutting you're intake of animal)

Let me just start by saying that I was a vegetarian all my life until I became a full-on Vegan 5 years ago, so I know what I'm talking about. Vegetarians are "allowed" to eat animal-derived substances, such as gelatin, lactose, honey, casein, etc. A vegetarian is classified as someone who does not eat meat. Seriously, consult the Oxford dictionary, that's what it says. If, by choice, you decided that it was morally wrong or whatever for you to eat gelatin, then don't eat it. But if you want a bowl of Jell-o, then nobody should judge you for it. There are a lot of grey areas. So if you decide you just want to exclude red meat & chicken, you're still technically a vegetarian. Gelatin, nobody should huff & puff about your choice, it's still considered vegetarian.

'ANIMAL FLESH OF ANY KIND'
Gelatin is still animal flesh, however processed it may be. I think it'd be like saying a white, very-processed tortilla with hydrogenated oils and whatnot isn't wheat.
However much you change how it looks or tastes, it's still meat.
It is my understanding that vegetarians do eat animal-derived ingredients as long as it is not the flesh. Those who do not eat anything from animals at all are vegans.
You wouldn't be a vegetarian if you ate gelatin. But you can eat milk chesse eggs etc
Veg-head for 1 year. :)
Because you can't get gelatine without killing the animal, it's not vegetarian.
yes, vegan is someone who does not consume any animal products.
