In some cases it might be but it creates a lot of deforestation that harms a lot of animal populations which are endangered and it just not a sustainable crop for the most part. The problem is palm oil is in a lot of foods so it can be hard to phase it out of your life but it is something to try. I do know that Smuckers (the company that makes JIF) does use animal testing or at least uses products tested on animals such as Splenda and they also do make a lot of money from animal exploitation. Aside from the palm oil issue I don't fully see any problems with the JIF natural looking at it on it's own.

This is just some minor info, I am sure there is more stuff out there:

vegan because animals are not property

Hi there,

Palm oil is not sourced from animals.
It is sourced from the palm fruit grown on the African palm tree.

However; it is the way the palm oil is farmed that is far from 'vegan friendly'.

Palm oil is grown in large palm oil plantations on the South-East Asian islands of Borneo and Sumatra. Over 300 football fields of pristine tropical rainforest, inhabited by thousands of unique species, is destroyed each HOUR to make way for these palm oil plantations.
This means that thousands of animals lose their homes and lives each year to make way for the palm oil that is used in many of our popular foods and body products, such as JIF natural peanut butter.

Borneo and Sumatra are the last remaining homes of the magnificent orangutan. The orangutan is the most intelligent species on earth (after humans), sharing 97% of our DNA. Despite this, over 6,000 of these gentle, intelligent creatures are brutally murdered each year in the production of palm oil. These acrobats of the forest are estimated to be extinct in the wild in 3 - 10 years, if the unsustainable farming practices of palm oil don't improve.

It is not only the wildlife that suffers from these plantation, but also the native people. Many indigenous Indonesian and Malaysian people loose their homes and life source once the rainforest is cleared. Along with this, palm oil is also killing our planet.
Once the rainforest is logged, the remaining shrubs and debris is burnt. This has been shown to be the second biggest contributor to greenhouse gas on the planet.

So by purchasing products that contain palm oil, you and helping wipe out species, bring suffering to many people and you are also helping put our whole planet into a large-scale ecological disaster.

How do I know? I'm a 14-year-old who has been studying palm oil and deforestation of orangutan habitat for the past year. Please visit my website to learn more: www.saynotopalmoil.com
Feel free to share my site with friends and family to help raise awareness about this important cause.

Yes. But you may want to Google 'palm oil and orangutans'. Also, I find it easier to Google for such simple facts as opposed to asking a question on a forum :)

Its not eco or animal friendly as orangutans and their habitats are destroyed in order to make palm oil.

Palm oil comes from animals ? Wow.

yes, palm oil doesn't comes from animals, Do they???

Yes.
