Vegetarians...........?!

Question: Vegetarians...........?
Why is it when someone receives the label "Vegetarian", they think they have the right to debate with every meat eater they can find. They think they're much more superior than the meat eater because they don't eat animals. I know from experience that becoming a vegetarian is a personal choice, not a public one. I don't understand why they think it's relevant to tell everyone that they're vegetarians. It just drive me crazy.

P.S I'm a vegetarian, And this kind of attitude makes me so angry.

I know what your saying! Usually I only tell people I'm vegetarian when someone tries to give me meat or something, but just because we are vegetarian doesn't mean we are better than everyone else! If your a meat eater you shouldn't judge a vegetarian and act like eating meat is better than being a vegetarian, and if your a vegetarian don't judge a meat-eater , even if you believe they are incorrect because chances are the meat eater thinks the same way. Honestly, though, I've seen more meat-eaters act like they are superior rather than vegetarians acting like they are superior. Both ways, there just needs to be some respect.

I'm a vegetarian

I've seen this happen a lot, quite a few of my friends are vegetarian/vegan.
As a vegetarian myself, I think these ones that argue with every meat eater they find are just giving us a bad name. We're not all like that, in fact they're probably the minority. Most vegetarians I meet don't even bring it up unless someone asks about it.

Vegetarian of 7 years

A human can live a healthy life without the need to kill animals. Which means that animals are killed soley for appetite, which is unethical.

Now, just beacause a vegetarian diet is more ethical, doesn't mean that vegetarians are morally superior beings.

As far as pusing my beliefs onto people, I will only debate two types of people:
-The ones that initiate a debate
-The obviously morbidly obese people telilng me I should eat meat for "protien"

I feel the need to tell someone I am vegetarian if we are going out to eat . and I dont pick at people about the food they ordered or order . honestly I have no clue what you are talking about , it's meat eaters that pick at vegetarians about our diet , not the other way around.

It's called freedom of speech, Christians go around trying to save everyone , there is no harm in talking about your diet .

being vegetarian is spiritual becuz your not ingesting death

I hate when people try to push their ways on you. I'm veg but I'm definitely not better than people who eat meat. I have jokingly said "I can't believe you're eating something that used to have a face!"
I would never try to argue with people. I don't even suggest it. It's personal. It's your decision. Some people do it for digestion. Some do it because of animals. It doesn't matter why, as long as you believe it.

Vegetarians aren't really that superior to meat eaters, so I don't understand why they would either. I, as a vegan, don't debate with anyone unless they come up and start it. I save most of my debating for online since meat eaters are coming into the vegan section. I don't go into theirs and pick fights. They come into ours and pick fights. I think it's the meat eaters starting a debate with every vegan they meet. Now, vegans are morally superior to meat eaters. That's just a fact. We made a change that is adverse to society and makes our life more difficult for our ethics. Not many people do that. We changed the way we eat, which we do several times a day, in order to try to make the world a better place. That makes us morally superior in at least one way. Meat eaters tend to want to make us seem like we're mean because we think we are morally superior, and you seem to agree, but we are.

Greg, I really hope you have a couple more years of school left to learn.

common sense

"Factory farms" are horrible. I agree that we shouldn't push others or look down on anyone. But is supporting puppy mills or abusing dogs "just a personal choice." I think we should expose factory farms. Maybe people can become more concern consumers.

I never publicy go around telling people "hey, guess what? I'm a vegan!" lol. If anything I think they'll be ones judging me as weirdo and an outcast. Sure, I post stuff up on the agribusiness and vegan ism on my websites etc. I do research for my school projects on the industrialized farming. I have animal rights quotes as my e-mail signature. I try to speak up for the animas. But at the end of the day people are free to choose and think for themselves.

i feel you, nobody has the right judge you based on what you eat, not all vegs are like this, but there's a lot of them that will call you a murderer for eating meat, the ones who says this are usually Peta vegans
no one is superior to any other else.

I have problems with people who make fun of me for being a vegetarian. If people are going to try and pick a fight, then I will fight back. Otherwise, I don't go picking fights with meat eaters. If I did I would be fighting with most of the worlds population.

becoming vegan is NOT a personal choice. is whether or not you murder a human a "personal choice"? its wrong, no one should be able to CHOOSE whether or not they want to exploit animals.

Everyone has the right to speak their mind, vegetarian, meat eater or vegan. Doesn't matter.

I agree. I hate labels, they're for the insecure.
WHy wave a flag at all. It's so needy.

As a meat-eater, you're the kind of vegetarian I like.
