Do people still treat animals this way (Peta SAD video..)?!
I eat meat and drink dairy and all that, but I have only watched the chicken part so far and am crying. Do they still treat animals like that?? Is that even legal?! Do they have products on the market where they DONT mistreat the animals?

Blah blah....who cares about Peta! The point is that animals are treated like a commodity and not sentient beings in the current industrialized agriculture. It doesn't take one to watch a Peta video to realize this. Yes its true. They are treated pretty badly. But some people are in denial. Idk why. Are all animals treated like this? Probably not but its obvious way over 90% are. You have to look well for a farmer that raises their animals like polyface farm. Those are currently pretty rare.
They are mutilated without pain relief, crowded, confined, frustrated, fed a diet of corn and antibiotics along with other gross things.
They're treated like profit machines not sentient beings, unfortunately. They may have products were animals are at least treated more "humanely" from your local small-scale family farmer. Research and get informed to know were it comes from!
If I remember correctly, this is the video where they claim that farmers, people who usually know at least basic science, will starve chickens because it will make them lay more eggs. Yes, because as we all know, you can produce more from nothing than you can from something.
I wouldn't trust a word that comes from peta's mouth, or any other orifice. They're the kind of people who are in it for the publicity. They'll lie, exaggerate, or even recreate a scene themselves to make a point that may not even exist.
Nine times out of ten, the people they rage on who abuse animals are nothing compared to what they do themselves. Peta doesn't even own a animal shelter, every year they euthanize thousands of dogs, cats, and other pets who come through their HQ. Out of those thousands, barely a dozen might get out alive.
If you live near the country, you might find a farmer who is not part of the big corporations who sells chickens legally. This way you'll know that the life of the chicken wasn't forgotten among the need to generate a profit.
Even better, you could always try hunting. Not only would you know the animal lived well, but the death would be short and you wouldn't have to worry about all the crap that farms stuff into plants and animals these days.
The meat industry is a very large industry and therefore a incidents like that are bound to occur. However, PETA is a so called "cause oriented group" and their purpose like any such group is to highlight their "cause". Unfortunately PETA is also notorious for exaggerating, often lying and misleading when it comes to their "campaigns". PETA is involved in what can be termed as "corporate extortion" where they target specific companies for the purpose of extracting money from these companies. PETA is not about animal rights/welfare as it is about making money for themselves.
The meat industry involves killing animals for food. There is no escaping that. Animals will be killed because it is their flesh is the the meat that people eat. A simple on line search can lead you to farms/suppliers that treat animals a lot better than that. But again, remember, meat equals death of animals no matter how good its life had been. It would be unrealistic to think otherwise.
In short, yes, animals are treated badly by the meat and dairy industry, but if you're concerned about it I would do more research. PETA doesn't exactly have the best reputation.
As far as I know, the only way to be certain your dairy products are cruelty free is to have your own cow. There's a lot the industry doesn't tell the public, so there's really no way to be sure what you're buying is cruelty free.
I wouldn't know about eggs because we have our own chickens, we don't buy eggs anymore.
yes!!
Even industries that say there livestock are taking care of there are no set of rules they follow except their own... and that usually is not that great. Unless you see organic free roaming, you can be SURE that these chickens who laid your eggs was in a battery cage and they live terrible lives. And, they still get sent to slaughter at a fraction of their life span. Male chicks are killed instantly after birth, sometimes by being crushed, suffocated and even left to die on their own. Dairy cows are milked so much that they get infection often extremely painful and or life threatening.. this happens everyday..in normal dairy industry and organic dairy, all cows are forced to be pregnant and if the make calf is male he is sold to the veal industry. If the calf is female, she is taken away immediately after birth so the people can milk her... often over milking her causing blood to mingle with the milk. This is just the "normal basics" of everyday life there. Look up how female pigs are kept.. it is horrible... please watch ALL the videos no matter how sad they are. I assure you, there are NO laws to protect these animals.
Don't believe half of what you see/hear from PETA.

It's all true... the meat, milk & egg industry doesn't want you to know how the animals are treated before they end up on your plate.

Where do you think thousands of tons of McDonald's, KFC, Burger Rach's, etc meat come from?
This is very true and its almost impossible for the average shopper to buy meat, dairy or eggs that are cruelty free (of course impossible if you consider the fact that killing is pretty cruel).
There are basically no laws to protect animals.
The only way to stop the abuse is to stop buying the products.
Veganism is truly great. If you are afraid of being different, it may not be for you. The food is great and its very healthy and good for the environment and cruelty free.
Vegan 3 years.
