In Vitro Meat? Would other vegetarians eat this?!

Question: In Vitro Meat? Would other vegetarians eat this?
So my friend told me the other day about something called "In Vitro Meat", that was real meat, only synthesized in a lab and never part of a complete, living animal. She said it was being developed originally as an answer to cutting the costs associated with raising enough meat to feed the worlds ever increasing overpopulation, but has now caught the interest of VEGETARIAN food producers. The food companies hope to have the "meat" on the market in the next few years, targeting people who are vegetarians/vegans for ethical reasons, and those with diseases where they must adapt a low-fat diet, but still want to enjoy meat. I did some research, and while I couldn't find a projected date of release on the market, it's true, they are lab-growing chunks of meat!

Personally, I think that is one of the most disgusting things I've ever heard of, and against all laws of nature. I've been a vegetarian for 12 years, so I'm pretty set in my views on consuming meat, however, given no other options, I'd much rather eat meat from a animal (a whole being) where I could at least be thankful to it for it's sacrifice for me, rather than eat some souless chunk of muscle, ligaments, nerve fibers or whatever else is in flesh. Would any other vegetarians/vegans/even meat eaters ever eat synthetic meat? Why or why not?

You know what? I like fava beans. ANd if it ain't broke..

You'd rather eat an animal where you could be thankful for it being sacrificed to you?
Hmm well i disagree there completely.

I'd eat the in vitro meat, no harm to sentient beings simple as. But at that its a damn long way off being produced & healthy for consumption so for a good decade at least i'm not worried

It's a great idea. It would even be healthier because of less need for hormones and antibiotics. Being grown in a sterile environment would also severely cut the incidence of infections such as e. coli.

It could also bring along the science needed for the growth of human organs, which would save millions of lives.

uhh..i'm not sure i understand what it exactly is but no i don't think i would eat it..how could it be real meat if it's not but not part of an animal...oh well, it sounds gross

No, it's not healthy. And is your opposition to it really that it never had a soul? You'd prefer your chunks of meat to come from something with a soul??

First of all as a meat-eater, I would be VERY skeptical about whether or not the laboratories could actually get "in-vitro meat" to have the same taste and texture as meat from an animal.

Nope wouldn't touch it I don't eat frankenfoods.
