Answers:
Pros:
You won't be giving your money to an industry you know to be awful (factory farms, pollution, etc.)
You have more energy (with a balanced diet)
You learn to listen to your body and find what it needs in your diet (this takes time, but it totally works)
You will smell better (if you don't eat too much dairy)
Veggies are cheaper than meat and better for the environment
You'll learn to make new awesome foods
Cons:
You won't have as many options if you go out to eat with others
If you want to eat something that tastes like meat, it costs more
Your family might think you're weird at first
People will ask you why you do it
You might have a lot more gas sometimes
You always want to make sure you get a complete protein somewhere in the day. Tofu and squash make a complete protein, so do beans and rice. You may want to think about how much protein you're actually getting in a day as well. I eat a lot of beans, including tofu, as well as nuts, like peanut butter. If you cook your own beans, make sure you rinse them or you will have gas. Eat lots of fresh stuff, the frozen/prepackaged processed foods just aren't that good for you to live off of and you'll save a lot of money. Green veggies are good for iron, notably spinach of course. You will find that your taste is flexible over time, you will start to like foods you never liked before.
I've been veggie for 11 years now, and vegan for 6 of them. I absolutely love it. I have a lot of energy, I can out perform a lot of my friends physically, and I don't miss meat at all! I never take supplements, I just listen to my body. It will tell you if something is missing, then you have to go find it.
I hope this helps.
personal experience as a vegan/vegetarian
I think it depends if you like vegetables or not. I’m a vegetarian because I don’t like the taste of meat (and to a lesser degree I don’t like the idea of eating baby animals i.e. veal, lamb etc) I love vegetables but also like Quorn and tofu etc, so I get all the vitamins and nutrients that I need without supplements. My sister however, is a vegetarian that isn’t keen on vegetables. She quit meat purely because she doesn’t believe in killing animals and likes anything meat flavoured. She has to take vitamins to keep her in good healthveggies are great for you,....I dont really like chicken either.
but make sure you get your vitamins. nuts, legumesThe advantages are that it is tough to take in enough calories to gain weight, assuming you exercise, it is fun to learn how subtly tasty veggies really are, plus they are easy to prepare. The downside is that some of your friends will feel awkward around you when you eat because they will imagine that you disapprove of their food choices, even if you don’t. Plus eating out is a little tough. I am not a vegetarian any more, but I lost my taste for big tasting meat like beef. It seems too rich and heavy. No big deal
pros: you will smell better than meat eaters - FACT! veggies are known to have healthier hearts.
cons: can't eat mcdonalds.
vitamin b12 or iron can help, however if you have a balanced diet you won't need any vitamin supplements. you can find everything you need for a healthy body in a diet of mixed fruit and veg.
haha i was literally about to say "no bacon :(" until i read the info
No mam! Youll turn into skin and bones and your brother wont want you anymore. Trust me i know from experience. A good white girl should eat her meat.
