what is the point of being vegan?!

Question: What is the point of being vegan?
Answers:

To elevate oneself to a position of moral and intellectual superiority over non-vegans, even though that position is based on hypocrisy and self-delusion.
The appeal of this fantasy position is that it entitles one to freely judge, criticize, and ridicule non-vegans.

because it has many health benefits. Many vegans believe it is the way that humans are supposed to eat, as vegetables, fruits, nuts, grains are easily digested and supply us with all of the nutrients our body needs. Food in a vegan diet is very gentle on the digestive system, so vegans often have flatter stomachs throughout the day. Some people have conditions such as IBS and they find that a vegan diet helps the condition, or gets rid of the symptoms completely. Some also do it to stay at a healthy weight, since vegans are generally slender because all of the food that they eat is healthy for the body, and isn't fattening. Of course there is also vegan desserts such as ice cream, but in general the diet is alot healthier. Vegans also live longer on average than vegetarians and meat eaters.

I know it's impossible to be a perfect vegan. I still go to the doctor, use a computer and drive a car, but it isn't about perfection. It's about doing all you can do to help alleviate the suffering of as many animals as possible while still being able to live and function in modern society.

Vegan [vee-gn]: Veganism denotes a philosophy and way of
living that seeks to exclude, as far as possible, all forms
of exploitation of, and cruelty to, nonhuman animals for food, clothing or any other purpose; and by extension, promotes the development and use of animal-free alternatives for the benefit
of humans, nonhumans and the environment. Vegans avoid all animal produce: meat (including chicken and fish), eggs, animal milks, honey, and their derivatives.

Some people do it for health benefits. My boyfriend's parents are vegan for medical reasons, not because of their beliefs on using animal products.

Goodness, you're asking a lot of questions today! Veganism is a lifestyle choice that is nearly always based in ethics or values. A person who chooses to go vegan does not believe that animals are here for us to use and therefore tries to eliminate them from his or her life as best as he or she is able. Like most ethical decisions, the goal is not to stop something from taking place, but to not take part in it. (That being said, many vegans who feel strongly about animal rights may be involved in other activities to that end.)

I suspect that you are wondering why people are vegan because "they can't change anything" or "animals will always be used/eaten." You didn't provide any details, but that is what most people mean when they ask a question like this. I suggest you look at things that you do (or don't do) for ethical reasons. Do you volunteer your time or donate your money to causes you believe in? Do you do that because you believe you are making a difference and that other people will follow suit, or are you mostly motivated by supporting a cause that you believe in? What about abstaining from activities what you disagree with? For example, if you do not tell lies, is it because you think others will follow suit and stop lying, or because you do not want to create pain/confusion by telling lies yourself? If you choose to not donate money to a political candidate or cause that you are against, is it because you think you are going to prevent others from supporting them, or only because you don't want to give your money to something or someone that you don't believe is morally right? The same kind of thinking applies here, with veganism.

I hope that helped, and I am sorry if I misunderstood your question.

Health benefits, not contributing to cruelty and destruction.

Most people who adopt a plant based diet do so for one of four reasons: ethics, environment, health or religion.
