Question regarding what I can eat on a vegetarian diet?!
Answers:
Chicken is a vegetable.
That is completely your decision. Some vegetarians say that the only kind of meat that they will eat is chicken or seafood or whatever it is that they choose to eat. If the reason why you are a vegetarian is due to health problems, then you might not want to eat the chicken.
Chicken is a meat, but I don't see why you can't eat it even though you consider yourself a vegetarian as long as you're not eating chicken at every meal. :)
Hope I helped!
Well, it's not a vegetarian food in any way. HOWEVER, if you need food(some of us in this world are quite poor) and are very hungry, then eat the chicken.
I think Buddha said something to the effect of if someone feeds you, don't be a fricking snob. If they fill your begging bowl, eat it and be thankful.
Something like that:-D
It's absolutely your choice. If you believe it's okay to do, then do it. If you feel wrong about it, don't do it. It doesn't matter if that makes you a vegetarian or not, as long as you're following your beliefs.
eating a Vegetarian diet, you maybe consuming eggs, milk and cheese already. So it depends on your views. But if you are trying to be VEGAN, then no.
My vegan definition is: Can't eat anything that has a mom or a dad or white.
No. You're not a vegetarian if you eat chicken. Vegetarians don't eat meat AT ALL. You're a meat-eater if you eat chicken.
Common sense!
Depends on how stuck you are on labeling yourself. If calling yourself a vegetarian is extremely important then you should not eat it.
No, as chicken is meat, you can't eat it while still being vegetarian, but it's a better choice than a steak or something.
We are not getting to the real issue here. The chicken was sitting out for over a day and you are still considering eating it? Don't.
Chicken is a vegetable.
It depends. You won't be able to call yourself a vegetarian anymore, because vegetarians do not EAT meat. It doesn't matter whether or not it's already dead! My family aren't vegetarians, so they always buy meat. It's in our fridge all the time, my mum prepares it, but I don't eat it because I am a vegetarian, and that means no meat.
You do not eat anything that came from a dead animal. Technically a real vegetarian doesn't eat any animal product at all. Ovo-Lacto vegetarians, who mostly are just called vegetarians now eat eggs and dairy. Chicken and fish are meat.
If you want to eat the chicken, eat it, but clearly that means you aren't committed to your vegetarian diet.
You will still be able to say you eat a mostly plant-based diet. But you are not a vegetarian.
Edit-
Also it depends whether or not you want to eat vegetarian for ethical reasons, and how strongly you feel about it.
Personally I don't think it's ethical to eat any meat. They don't have a choice about whether or not they will be killed, we have the choice not to support that. By eating meat, I believe you are supporting it just as much as you would be if you bought it yourself.
If you sorta wanted to maybe be a vegetarian, just eat it. But if you feel strongly about it, you shouldn't even have bothered asking.
Vegetarian.
No, eating chicken is not vegetarian. If you think it would be worse to throw it away, though, don't. In your situation, I would probably give it to another friend, neighbor, or family member. I am the only vegetarian in my usual circle, so it would be easy for me. Me eating it would be just as much of a waste, though, because I don't enjoy it. I would get no pleasure out of eating it. Why bother? Better to give it to someone who actually wants it.
Another possibility is to give it to a food bank or soup kitchen. Depending on how much there is and whether it is opened or not (also, check the date), they might want it. You could also feed to to a pet.
As others have mentioned, though, you should look at your motivations. Why do you want to be a vegetarian? Is it important for you to be a vegetarian, or simply not purchase meat? If it is the former, and you would prefer to not consume slaughter products, definitely skip the meat. However, if you simply would rather not directly support the slaughter industry, being a vegetarian might not make sense for you.
