Please provide as much information and resources (websites) as possible. I have to give a school presentation that addresses this question. I am not sure where to begin. Thanks!

soy milk is more better than milk (healthier)

Because regular milk is real milk. Soy milk isn't. The beans have to be grown. There's a lot of demand for soy at this time: fake soy meats, soy oils, soy meal, and for direct human consumption. Soy beans are one of the most expensive agriculture commodities, as opposed to corn or wheat. Soybeans are currently about $15 a bushel compared to less than $8 for corn. (see links) Then they have to be processed, packaged, and shipped to your store.

The US government sets a base price on grains, but these days the market price is much higher than the base government price. Prices fluctuate with demand and supply. Demand is up for soybeans; supply...not so much. Soybeans need a certain climate, rainfall, temperature, and soil quality to grow properly. You can't grow them just anywhere.

On the other hand, demand for milk doesn't fluctuate much. Bad weather doesn't affect the production of milk like it does the production of grains. The dairy business is currently pretty overbuilt. For several years, prices were high because there was a shortage of dairy cattle. So farmers jumped into the dairy business and now there's probably too many dairy cattle in production. So milk prices are fairly low and some people are getting out of the dairy business. Over a period of years, the dairy herds will get too small again, prices for milk will go up, and the cycle will continue.

Farmers in the right region of the country can decide in January whether to plant wheat or corn and make a crop this year. It takes three years to get a dairy cow in production.

production process is main reason,

According to Virginia Tech University's Food Science & Technology newsletter, soy milk production might have a more negative environmental impact than dairy milk. While less energy is used to produce a soybean than to produce a calorie of dairy milk protein, other costs associated with soy milk---making that bean drinkable and larger transport costs due to fewer soy producers---make it a potentially more environmentally expensive proposition.

grow, pick, & dry soy beans
an emulsion of oil, water, and protein, it is produced by soaking dry soybeans and grinding them with water.
coagulated protein from soy milk can be made into tofu, just as dairy milk can be made into cheese.

For one, due to our or disgraceful and pathetic government, milk and other dairy has been subsidized for many years. Even school districts get reimbursement from the federal government if they offer milk at every meal. Tax money is also passed for low-cost sale of surplus cheese to school lunch programs and poor people. Cow Milk has no major nutritional value than other plant-sourced foods for human beings. Thus, it is junk. I don't care that milk contains a lot of calcium. That is the dairy industry's selling pitch. Dairy's calcium isn't proven to increase intake or promote bone health.

Do you how many republican politicians are lobbyists and/or own farms for milk businesses that would vote ''nay'' on cutting these subsidies? There is Michelle Bauchmen, vicky hartzler of Missouri, South Dakota kristi noem, steve Fincher of Tennessee, etc. get millions of dollars in subsidizes. From 1995-2009, 245.2 billion dollars was spent on USDA subsidies alone!!! And why it is that of the top 4 corps subsidized, they are also genetically modified? You don't think GM seeds are patented? They are. Monsanto mainly owns the patents.

Do you know how much the dairy industry spends every year advertising their products?
FACT: THere is no evidence that dairy and calcium increase calcium intake. 2nd FACT: there is no evidence that cow milk promotes bone health either. Regardless of how many skewed, biased, questionable studies funded by the dairy industry that you read, there is no health benefits of cow milk. That's why the FDA recommends that people drink 3 glass of milk. cow Milk contain high amounts of protein which inhibits calcium absorption.
By the way, About 75 percent of the world's population is genetically unable to properly digest milk and other dairy products -- a problem called lactose intolerance. Thus, lactose intolerance is normal.

All the health hype has everybody scrambling to use soy products. It's is suppose to be very good for you. And some people just can't use dairy products so that would be an alternative for them. So cause & demand, they can charge what they want cause people will buy it anyway.

There are some times I have soy milk, but I don't drink it to escape drinking real milk. I just wonder why they call it milk. Only animals make milk. I don't mean to split hairs, but this illustrates how marketing affects our attitudes towards what we eat or drink.

Demand for it is low.
Dairy milk has been in production widely in USA for ages, soymilk is NOT widespread and not traditional. Until soymilk is drunk with as much popularity as cows tit milk, it will be more expensive.
