Why are health Fundy's and nutritionists seldom a good example of their preachings?!

Advertising IS all about money. A good example was on a documentary on steroids called "Bigger, Stronger, Faster." A model for a diet supplement was in very fabulous shape, and the host of the documentary asked, "Do you feel this is false advertising? Someone will take this pill and expect to look like you, and we both know that won't happen." He replied, "If someone looks at this advertisement with my body and thinks the ONLY thing I do to stay in shape is take a pill, that person is a fool."
In other words, even if the model in question uses the product, it's not the ONLY thing s/he does to stay in good shape. Then there are people like the GNC head honchos who are photographed at supplement conventions and these guys are unfit, chubby and generally unhealthy looking.
So what's the deal? Who to believe? One part science, two parts you. The science behind it is great, you can see if someone is lying, over-exaggerating, etc. just by reading the accompanying science...and if it's not readily available, ignore it. But you, you're what matters. Each body is different. If 10,000 people feel okay by eating X food or taking Y supplement and you take it and see no results or feel like crap, stop using/eating it! Your body knows what's up!
If you have specific questions on nutrients or products, feel free to contact me (see profile). I'm a fan of sharing knowledge and don't advertise for anyone...and I've used, reviewed or sold many of the supplements out there.
Because they are human and that means they are not perfect. You could be asking why do so many doctors, nurses and other health professionals smoke cigarettes and use drugs or drink excessively?
