getting started with vegan foods?!

Question: Getting started with vegan foods?
Not necessarily looking to go full vegan, but I've come to realize that without meat I don't have the first clue what to eat. So I'm trying to eat better.

Is there some introductory guide of sorts on how to cut meat from your diet?
Best stores for produce?
Easy recipes?

I'd find a good Thai or CHinese supermarket, because the average American supermakret has gross tofu, in those white tubs and t's awful.

Baked tofu
soydogs
chickpeas
lentils
peanuts/butter
quorn,

if you're into buying processed food- get Morningstar Patties, or any of the Morningstar range, they're really tasty ( I personaly don't buy processed food much, but if I did I'd buy them).
The "Amy's" range of vegetarian foods is huge and SO good, they really look pretty, you'll never need to even THINK about what to eat- they do veg/ and vegan.

I go crazy for tofu it's true, but then I live in Thaitown and there are tons of amazing thai supermakets which do masses of baked, fresh, marinaded, freezer, restuarant style tofu ( like a massive case of veg chicken, used in restaurants and stri fries, or veg tuna etc).

I like Asian food anyway, so I feel natural eating that stuff.

Baked tofu s one of my favourite things to eat- it isn't that white flabby soft tasteless stuff they sell in supermarkets in the whhite squae watery tub..

Look at Middle Eastern and Indian foods- heavy on chickpeas, lentils, brown rice, and AMAZING fava beans, and spices....oooh it's so good, good for you, and very nice to eat.

Good luck and please do look for a good, cheap ( always cheaper than USA supermarkets) Thai, Korean or Chinese supermarket, where they'll do all kinds of soybean stuff too.

As some one said above to eat morning star. Do not eat that stuff, it's gross and band for you. If you want packaged foods that imitate meat go for ones with wholesome ingredients like gardein and sunshine burgers which are both vegan.

For cutting meat out of your diet start by eliminating red meat, then white, and lastly seafood. I'd wait at least a week before cutting them out one by one. For some people it also helps eating fake meats, but some people don't like them like me.

The best stores for produce is usually Whole Foods or Trader Joe's. You can find them in the natural sections and other bigger grocery stores.

For easy recipes I'd search vegweb.com or ohsheglows.com. There's a lot of vegan food blogs as well that will be helpful to you.

Vegwebs.com has the BEST vegan/vegetarian recipes ever. I love it. They have recipes for like everything. If you're thinking about becoming a vegan, then you should. Being a vegan is the best thing I've ever done. Not only am I healthier but I'm saving poor, innocent animals lives.
