I would suggest writing a list of reasons why you wish to become vegetarian and studying it before dinner tonight when you tell them. Then it will be more clear to them why you made this personal decision.(:

See that thing situated between your nose & chin? stop putting meat into it.

Alright i'll stop joking around, firstly read up. You're parents are probably going to restrict your internet usage if they think you are looking up what they deem ''inappropiate material'', I wouldn't tell them straight off at 14 years old you are going vegetarian as you haven't thought out the decision. Talk to your mother about it & continue doing research if you have free ipod space, i recommend ''vegetarian food for thought'' Podcast.
Understand that not all animals or farmers treat their animals like the videos you saw, they are the extreme shock videos.
Seeing as your parents are providing food for you & cooking food for you, you need to talk to them & come to an agreement, be that learning how to cook your own food or something of that nature.

vegetarian
at 14 it will be difficult, you aren't exactly old enough & if your parents are like mine then age gives leverage + wisdom to argue.

If you really care about animals, become a vegan instead. Vegetarians still eat dairy, wear clothes from animals, etc. I'm 13 and I live with my parents too but my biggest problem is I have 8 other people living with me too and they'd never stop eating meat. In fact, they criticize me all the time for being a vegan. What you can do is just tell your parents how strongly you feel about it. Chances are they won't become one too but if they're good parents they'll support you. Vegwebs.com has alot of good recipes. Tell them that if they're gonna eat meat and not buy you your own vegan dinner, you just won't eat. Ask them for their support in this and tell them that this is really what you wanna do.

I was a vegetarian this past year, and had the same worries as you...what will my parents say? Will they be supportive? etc. Surprisingly, they were! If you think it will be difficult at first, try giving up meats that you don't eat often, and gradually work your way to vegetarianism. Don't worry about not getting enough protein...there are plenty of other ways to obtain protein. I am a Nutrition major, and spoke with my department head about my concerns. Eggs are a great source of protein, as well as nuts, beans, lentils, and of course fruits and vegetables. I've shared a link to give you a good list of the amount of protein (g) in different sources. Try looking up different recipes to share with your family...it's so easy to have a meat dish along with great vegetarian dishes. Show your parents that it can work, that you will still be healthy, and explain to them how you feel about eating meat.

Don't tell them tonight. Same advice I gave to other questioner. Get educated. Big mistake to think you know how to replace one food with another. Go to library. Go online and learn. Start slowly. You don't have to become vegan overnight. Yes, you can get sick if you don't know what to eat.(you can be the same weight, but be suffering from malnutrition), When your parents realize you know about it, your parents will not be worried about you getting sick.
What would YOU think if someone told you they were going to get some tree branches and newspapers, and make a glider to jump off 20 story building. You'd tell them to get smart first.

Don't go vegetarian right away. Speak to your parents, and ask them if it would be okay to just eat white meat. (Turkey, Chicken, Fish) I suggest going to your doctor to have a talk about vegetarianism, the risks of it and the benefits.

I've been a vegetarian for two months and have done just this.

At 14 and living at home it is going to be tough without your parent's support. You need to talk to them about what you want to do and why you want to do it. They will need to purchase more fruits and vegetables and you will still need a source of protein, like soy milk or tofu.

by not eating nothing of meat only vegetables eww i don't recommend it i say you try to eat less meat cuz red meat is not healthy for you but you need meat because its a good fountain of protein

well tell them then, if you dont want to eat meat, then just dont eat it.

Just tell them.

I was born not liking any type of flesh.

My only health problem is a higher than normal blood sugar count.

Stop eating meat.

take a lots of fruits, milky items n green vegetables.
