I'm experiencing stomach pains?!
So about two weeks ago, I decided I was going to get back into the vegetarianism. However, after about a week, I started experiencing awful stomach pains...and I remember this being one of the problems a while ago. Do you think lack of protein has anything to do with this?
Thank you.

You are probably just eating a heck of a lot of fiber and your body isn't used to it at all. You have to drink enough water when you consume a lot of fiber so you can push things along. If you don't you will experience stomach pains. When you eat a balance of protein & fiber, that too helps to push things along, which is another reason why you're probably experiencing these stomach pains. Try and eat complete meals.
Meat is not the only source of protein, and there is protein or the amino acids that make up protein in the foods you are eating. I have been a vegetarian or vegan for decades. Protein doesn't even cross my mind when I'm eating a variety of foods-- fruits, vegetables, legumes/beans, grains, nuts and seeds. I have never used protein supplements-- ever. What you are experiencing could be from all the additional fiber you're eating. If you're eating beans, you'll also want to drain the water and rinse. Do not consume the water they've soaked in. It's also possible you have problems with a new food you added to your diet-- like soy. Finally, you want to rinse off all your produce really well, even the bagged salads. You can pick up some bad buggers that give you a belly ache or diarrhea. What are you eating? Do I think stomach pain is related to protein after a week? No.
Evolution took millions of years and designed your body to take in meat and plant matter to function correctly. We are "omnivores." Sure you can pop a protein pill but your body knows the difference. Most supplements are eliminated through your urine thats why they put 5000% of the chemicals in there. And thats just that. Nature knows. So eat meat, your body will thank you. You can stick to fish and healthy meat, but you need to eat it. And to answer your quesion, I think its just a rapid change in your diet thats causing your stomach to be upset. If you stick with it, the pain will go away... thats the funny thing about us stubborn humans, we adapt to change very well..even when we go against what nature intended.. your body will adjust to the new diet and low protein levels. But why make it do that when you can take a bite of a juicy chicken breast? Man I don't know how you guys do it.
Just my opinion...is all.
