Did I eat too much food today?!


Question: Did I eat too much food today?
Ok so here is what I have had today:
1 bowl of special k cereal w/ almond milk
1 medium bag of frozen fruit-140 cals
1 peach
1 handful of blueberries
about 6 servings of mixed nuts

I feel like I had too much food. I am going to run for about an hour on the treadmill later on. I use to be bullimic and have finally stopped the stupid cycle and I am so glad I did. Nuts use to be a trigger for me, and I would often throw them up, but I had enough will power to not do so. I am finally recovered, but I still want to lose weight. I am 16, 5'5, and 136. I want to get down to 125. Is this too much to have?

This is not too much to have, although getting most of your calories from a single source of food (in this case, mixed nuts) isn't ever a good idea, no matter how healthy the food.

Exercise requires food, that's how it works. If you don't properly fuel your body, it will hold onto fat, which is what you don't want. In order to lose weight, you need to eat properly...not skimp on food and not overeat, but eat properly. How do you know how much is good to eat? Simple:
Step 1: Eat a healthy, well-rounded diet...5 to 6 small meals a day made of natural foods...nothing processed and loaded with chemicals (in other words, no more Special K...replace it with a better cereal or something even healthier, like oatmeal).
Step 2: Track your progress in the gym. Are you able to run faster? Further? Are you able to lift more weight (you should be hitting the weights, by the way)? If not, you aren't being nourished properly.
Step 3: Are you GAINING weight? There could be a few culprits, like improper diet...but not just too many calories. Too much sodium will also cause weight gain.

Your bulimia was trigged by your fear of gaining weight. Instead of worrying about weight, worry about fitness and overall health. Your weight will go down as you get healthier.



I'm gonna be completely honest here. If you think that that is too much, then you're gonna run to burn it off, and then you think you're fat (which you're not, you're at a perfect weight according to your bmi) so you wanna lose weight, you might be going back to the cycle or maybe even anorexia. Now don't freak out. I'm not saying you are anorexic, I'm just saying be careful :) The normal amount of calories you should have is 1200, and that is obviously less than that. You seem perfect. Don't worry about your weight. Worry about having fun, partying, being normal. If you worry about your weight you're just gonna stress yourself out.



What you eat is not the issue--it is how much you burn off. If I were you, I would try to eat more and also run/workout more. This is the healthy way.



calm down. you're fine. and i think you're at a perfect weight dont lose anymore or else you'll want to lose more. i've been through that.



I don't think you ate too much at all! If anything you didn't eat enough! But I think you're at a pretty good weight too :) so I think you'll be okay!
