1. their is always going to be farms, mine as well support small organic farms rather than large concentrated feeding operations.
2. meat and especially eggs contain lots of protein. It is much easier to get the needed amount of protein from foods we are designed to eat like protein rich eggs rather than have to focus on getting it from vegan foods like soy.
Actually, Oohay Moc is incredibly wrong.
1. Humans aren't carnivorous. S/He means "omnivorous." And if that's the case, then we can glean nutrients from meat and plant matter...and since plant matter provides all our nutrition while meat does not, then one can safely be a vegetarian/vegan.
2. Protein is found in every food on this planet. Protein is made up of amino acids, which don't build muscle specifically but CELLS in general. Plants are made of cells. Yes, plants contain amino acids...aka protein.
Francisco is also wrong:
1. Plant foods actually contain more iron than animal foods. 1oz of beef has 3% of your daily value of iron, 1oz of dried thyme has 192%.
2. Pale skin can be a sign of lack of sunlight, not lack of nutrition.
3. There are vegan bodybuilders.
4. Lack of growth doesn't even make sense overall.
Daisy does bring up one good point: you need to eat much more on a veggie lifestyle.
The only support I can think of for a non-vegetarian dietary lifestyle:
1. You can eat anything at any restaurant you go to.
2. No one bugs you with their nutritional ignorance about how you're not getting enough protein/iron/etc..
in my opinion, the main argument for eating meat/dairy is simply, that it makes it easier to get the needed nutrients in the course of a day, you can do it on a vegetarian diet, but its not as easy.there is also the fact that it is more widely accepted and catered to. you can walk in any restaurant and order without worry. its harder to maintain a vegetarian lifestyle since todays society is mostly meat eaters, and most places gear their menus and products accordingly.
well...
1) we were made to be carnivorous, it is proved even by the way we are designed by nature. Why do you think we have canines? they are there to cut up meat, so we can see that we were biologically set up to lead a non-vegitarian life-style. why go against nature?
2) even though vegetarians claim that they do not need meat to be healthy, thats not exactly true. the thing is it is very hard to balance out the lack of nutrients, especially protein, you gain from meat with milk derivatives. A vegetarian should always be constantly worried about whether or not he or she has eaten correctly
Iron deficiency. Study after study shows veg*ns tend to have lower iron stores than meat eaters.
B12. Study after study shows veg*ns tend to have low B12 levels. Low B12 levels can lead to heart attack and stroke, as well as nerve damage. Low B12 levels are also tied to depression and possibly other mental disorders.
Protein in meat is complete. Protein in most veggies is not complete. The truth is that it's harder to get enough protein in a diet of vegetables than from a diet that includes some meat.
Calories. Most adults aim for about 2000 calories a day. If you're a growing, active youngster, you may need as many as 2500. Veggies are, for the most part, low in calories. You've really got to plan your diet and stick to it to get 2500 calories from eating just veggies.
Well, as a vegetarian the down side for me is not being able to eat out hardly anywhere, having to have a separate dinner if family is having meat, and people's opinion of me being negative sometimes. Those are the only bad things I can get out if being a veggie.
Veggie mom.
Possible potential for Dietary Iron deficiency
good for u. Good luck with the paper.

lack of iron, pale skin, less choices, less muscles and lack of growth
