What are some good lean protein foods for vegetarians?!

Question: What are some good lean protein foods for vegetarians?
I'm constantly hearing about how chicken, turkey and fish can keep you lean... But what about us veggies? Anything for us?

Answers:

Tofu, beans, lentils, peas, tempeh, seitan, nuts, textured vegetable protein (TVP). Not much else. If you stick with whole grains, like brown rice and whole wheat, the whole grains naturally have more protein than their processed versions. Egg whites and whey protein are great if you're not strictly vegan.

As far as fruits are concerned, good sources of protein include peach, coconut, date, avocado, dried apricots, prunes, papaya and watermelon.

The body loses about 0.34 g of protein per kg body weight per day. With a safety margin added, apparently we need .45 g/kg per day of "ideal" protein to replace what's lost. With additional safety margins for digestibility and protein quality, our protein requirement is in the neighbourhood of .75g/kg, or about 56 grams of protein for a 70 kg man (160 lb, or an average sized guy).

Protein that is derived from animal products are complete proteins.

You can get complete proteins when you combine any two of: whole grains, legumes or nuts. As they are protein rich but not complete proteins, when you combine them they become complete proteins.

Pulses, especially lentils, tofu, soya products, nuts, seeds and dark green vegetables.

Just about any kind of beans or legumes to be more exact, Whey protien powders, nuts, and organic peanut butter are all great sources

Beans, beans and more beans.
