I'm 13 and want to become a vegetarian .?!

Question: I'm 13 and want to become a vegetarian .?
Lacto-ovo Vegetarian, to be specific. When I told my mom, she was supportive, cause' she also does not eat meat, but not because she's a vegetarian, but because she just doesn't like it.

Does anyone have any advice, or tips on how to become a vegetarian ?
& To make sure I'm still getting all the right nutrients I need .
- Are their any cons to becoming vegetarian ?

Yes! At any age it would be good to become a vegetarian. I became one at 8. Well I was a vegetarian for the first 3 years of my life though. For protein you can get supplements. Try http://www.veganessentials.com it is a vegan website (vegan meaning not consuming meat, dairy or eggs.) but that means everything is vegetarian. And you may even want to become a vegan. Anyway, I'm sure you'll find good protein supplements on there and other foods you'll love. Some protein foods you can have are nuts and seeds, protein bars (be sure to check ingredients because some contain gleleten and fish.)proteinen shakesveggieses, fruits and measubstituteses like tofu and seiten. I prefer seiten it is "meat" made from wheat. Some meat replacements I like are:
Field Roast Sausages-http://www.fieldroast.com and alsavailablele at many grocery stores and vegan essentials
Tofurky- vegan essentials and grocery stores
Health is Wealth products- vegan essentials and grocery stores
Gardeingroceryry stores and vegan essentials
^those are all good and taste aawesome!!
Cons:
-Convenience. Sometimes it's hard to find vegetarian options at restaurants. But it gets easier over time.
-Discrimination. Sometimes people are very judgmental. But usually the older you get, the more mature people are about it
Ask your mom and other vegetarians what they eat too. Good Luck!

Im a vegetarian and proud of it!!

Nutrition will be very important for you. Your mother, being a vegetarian herself, probably already has an idea of what else you can eat and stay healthy. My family ate a lot of meat and was not supportive when I was 14. I was a vegetarian for about a month but became very sick and gave it up so that support is important. I've cut meat to only chicken and seafood and that works fine for me as a first step. Also if you can see your doctor, he/she may have some good sound advice. I'm sure you could also google things like vegan or vegetarian meals or different recipes with that tag. I found some of the best recipes are actually vegan.

personally, im not a vegatarian, but i dont really recommend it.

-pros: you won't kill any animals :))
-cons: you wont get the vitamins you need (proteins!!), proteins are very important! they help your nails and hair, they are enzymes, and they help your immunity system! and they give you lots of energy!

its really your choice, but think of all that steak you will be missing out on! :P

I was a vegetarian for 2 years now im a vegan. its not that hard to be a vegetarian take vitamins, and you don't need meat to get protein.

Im 16 and I recently became a vegetarian! Its ALOT of hard work,,, and listening to all the people saying your not gonna last,,, this is a joke. But you can do it if your committed! Good Luck! :)

no not yet. you need meat for high source of protein because your on your growing stage.
and it can be altered by not eating red meats.
if your male. you can be a vegetarian at the age of 21.
and 18 for female.
especially that your on your puberty stage where growing
essential body parts and rapid cell division occurs.
again it can be altered by lack of protein.

:)
