Ok, you've convinced me. Meat IS bad for you, I was wrong. Do your victory dance now before we continue.

Done? Ok.

I know my mum won't say no or anything coz she doesn't really eat meat that much so she won't miss it if I get her to do it with me, but I see it as kind of like comedy: don't open with it, start with something else and then work it in somewhere.

... but where? What should I start with?

Show her the statistics about obesity, lifespan for vegetarians compared to omnivores, how healthy and low-fat the lifestyle is, and sources that you will now be getting your protein from:)

Vegan

There's a lot of evidence out there which supports both vegetarianism and veganism, so gather as much of it as you can and show it to your mum. Veganism is difficult though (I tried it for a few months), and while it can make you feel great, it can take some time to adjust to and can make eating out a bit of a problem! Nonetheless, it is a great step to take towards a healthier lifestyle, as long as you make sure that you get all the nutrients you need.

To get your mum on side, perhaps you could take on the responsibility of cooking vegetarian meals for a few days so you can show how a change in diet won't be too much bother. Mums always appreciate a night off from cooking!

I don't know if you've ever had nut roast, but that's a great dish for people who are accustomed to eating meat. Serve it up with some roast potatoes and steamed broccoli, cover with gravy, and enjoy!

First off meat isnt bad for you.Just dont consume 24/7. Cause it is acidic.. I started on my path to health with organic. That's the most crucial step. It's much healthier and makes such a huge difference. Trust me, I've done both ways. But yeah, just eat whatever is on your regimine.Just don't think you have to eliminate fat from your diet. Just stay away from as much sugar as possible. Even fruits, cause there so hybridized full of sugar. And try to stay away from fruits with no seeds...STERILE MUTANTS . And again for fruits; try to consume bitter(not sour) fruits. Like blueberries, rasberries blacberries. Etc. So do your thing, it's just food...... If you have any more questions I would be more than happy to help!

Just b up front with her tell her that u feel that eating meat isnt fir you and its healthy to b vegetarian n who knows mayb she will become 1 after u, just b honest with her, get strait to the point dont drag the conversation- i did exactly the same thing n now im a succesful vegan at a young age :D

Experience

If you think your mom will be fine with it, then just ask her. Be prepared to support your opinion in case she questions it at first. If she's worried about your protein, protein is available in beans, nuts/seeds, ect. If she's worried about that price, agree to only buy natural foods. No fake meats (which really are the only expensive thing). If she's worried about nutrition, show her the vegetarian food pyramid and agree to keep track of your nutrients until you get the hang of it.

Congrats on going veg!

Well you cant hide it from her for very long so i would suggest that u tell her when she isnt stressed and when its just u and her alone. Other than that, u have to do the rest... Hope i helped!
