Help cant get rid of cold!

raw garlic. i know, i know, but it works! if you can't stand to chew it up, you can swallow a whole clove. peel the paper off and cut off the ends and just hold your breath and swallow it. also, when i have a cold, i make stuff like chili that's spicy, so that helps clear the sinuses. drink oj and munch on some bell peppers for the vitamin c. french onion soup is good, too. the onions are good for you. lots of liquids, especially hot liquids like hot tea, will help keep you cleared out, too.

When you are fighting of a pathogen energy is diverted for this process, especially if you have a fever as it requires more energy to get the body temperature higher than normal. Fever is useful for your immune system as it makes it easier to kill off the pathogens. Anyway for this reason the digestive system needs to go easy as it is the most energetically expensive system in the body. So eating foods which are easy to digest are a good idea- thin watery soups provide nutrients in a form which is easily absorbed requiring less energy to break them down. If you have an upset stomach or a very sore throat avoid spicy soups but if not the chilli is good to help keep the sinuses unblocked.

I have my own flu remedy- a tea made from lemon juice, garlic, ginger and liquid echinacea. I've tried herbal echinacea and it wasn't as good, perhaps because the extracts are concentrated? Not sure. I've also experimented with the ingredients and the ginger can be excluded but the other three must be included or it doesn't seem to make me feel better. But the ginger gives it a nicer flavour. Anyway if you try this use garlic clove cut into a couple of pieces or slightly crushed and slices of ginger rather than minced or fully crushed pieces as it is a bit gross having the bits floating around when you drink it.

ok i know that this isn't a food, but whenever i have a cold i do the "netty pot" it is uncomfortable and gross, but it cleans out your sinuses immediately and will make you feel better.you can probably get one at any pharmacy/grocery store. he'res the link:

whenever i get sick

Believe it or not, the best thing to do when you are sick is fast. Drink a lot of water.
When you eat, your metabolism takes huge amounts of energy to digest the food
When you fast, all of the energy that would have been used to metabolize food is used to heal your ailment.

Fasting also helps the toxins come out.

This is really standard, but soup (especially chicken noodle) helps a lot. The hotness of it is good on your stomach. If you fell like you can't eat, heat water on the stove and breathe the steam. This does essencially the same thing.

Being sick for the past week :)

Stick with clear soups. Nice peppermint tea's are good, and I like to soak in a steaming hot bath. It really make me feel a lot better. But eat very lightly. So your body can use more energy towards healing you instead of digesting food. Also google the BRAT diet. Thats what my pediatrician told me to pu my son on when he was very sick. It stands for: bananas, rice, apple sauce and toast. Google it for more information, but it seems to help all of us in my family get through sick times :)

if you have a sore throat try this:

add 1-2 teaspoons of cayenne pepper to a mug of boiling water. Squeeze in some lemon juice and honey.

sip at it - swallow it quickly so the pepper hits in your throat and not your mouth.

just got over the worst sore throat of my life.

When I have a real bad cold, I usually cook a lot of spicy east-indian food. I'd make some dal soup, curry, kaawha and gustaba or very good indian dishes for fighting bad colds.

Try a Thai coconut soup. Supposed to be great.
There are tons of veg*n recipes like this one (I haven't tried this one)
