very easy to get fresh raw foods in China, even the small towns, there is a market.
there is a LOT of vegan food, cooked, along the street and you'll be tempted.
The cost of veg anf fruit is cheap.
I've been to china and did exactly this- it was easy to be raw. In fact a lot of things I'd never tried before were available. vegetables, tofu and all.
Well, it depends on whether you choose to cook by yourself or just go to a restaurant for food.
If you cook by yourself in China, you can buy fresh produce in the big supermarket, such as War mart or carrefour. I guess the prices for fresh produce in China are less than that in the US. For example, 1 kg of tomatoes costs around 6RMB (1USD=6.55RMB), 1kg of asparagus lettuce cost around 8RMB. The prices are higher in large cities, as Beijing or Shanghai, than that in smaller cities.
If you want to go to some special restaurant only for raw vegan food, it'll be more difficult. I am living in Shanghai. I know that in shanghai you can find some. Please see the list:
1. Gongdelin vegan restaurant
2. Delinfang vegan restaurant
3. Jingan temple vegan noodles
4. Rendao vegan collection
5. Woxingwosu vegan restaurant
6. Chongzheng natural vegan restaurant
Hope this could help.

It's easy to be on vegan diet in China. There are plenty of vegan restaurants in China. There are a lot of vegan in China, some do it for religious (Buddish), and some do it for healthy. Fresh vegatables are certainly cheaper in China than US with a lot more choice. Soy bean alone could easily turn to 100 different dishes in Chinese food.
However, the turn "RAW" made things difficult. Most vegatables in regular local markets are not targeted for eating "RAW", and most vegan restaurant may not have a "RAW" vegan menu except salad and a few options. You are better to shop in large supermarket and buying imported products if you want to eat "RAW".
easy? no. possible? yes. fresh produce is everywhere, and pretty inexpensive. but the problem is, you can get pretty sick eating raw vegetables because most chinese farmers use human feces to fertilize their crops. you'll just have to be extra vigilant about washing your fruits and vegetables very well before eating them, especially things that grow close to the ground like strawberries or lettuce. you could save some work by peeling everything you can before you eat it. there is a kind of cleaner for fruits and vegetables called Fit that is sold online, you can buy powder packets and mix them with water to make a safe cleanser.
used to live in china.
