Question: Is it safe to eat out-of-date jello?
My boxes of gelatin are outdated by about 8 months. Are they safe to make and eat?

Probably. Food like that really doesn't expire.

It probably won't cause any safety problems, but I can't imagine that they'd taste very good if they are that old. Also, keep in mind that gelatin isn't vegetarian-friendly, so you shouldn't serve it to a vegetarian.

i don't understand why you are asking this in a vegetarian/vegan forum. if you are concerned about eating gelatin because you are vegetarian, jello/gelatin is made from horses' hooves. so...it's not really animal-friendly.

Most likely. I'm guessing that just like spices that get old, the jello flavor may be less intense. I would be more concerned if it was pre-made jello. :)

i wouldn't.

just in case

i would say no.
