Which fruits and veggies act as laxatives when constipated?!

Question: Which fruits and veggies act as laxatives when constipated?
Include as many as you can in your list. Is cabbage one of them?

Answers:

Berries, pitted fruit like plums, cherries, peaches all will get things moving. Bananas help with diarrhea, so you might want to not eat them. Tomatoes also work well for many people. Cabbage is not, but will still be a good choice because that type of fibre does help to get things moving. My famous bowel cleanser soup (a great after holiday choice) is made up of red peppers, green onion, tomatoes, cabbage, carrots, celery, broccoli, cauliflower, and potatoes. A couple days on it and you feel lighter.

Edit: apparently, bananas can help or hinder constipation; a lot of it depends on the ripeness of the banana. Here is a link to more info http://ezinearticles.com/?Do-Bananas-Cau…

Dried fruits are excellent when you are constipated. Beans and legumes also help keep you regular and may be good for constipation. Cabbage, I never heard of it being good for constipation.

Oh, and drink lots and lots of water, too.

Edit: Bananas are recommended for diarrhea because they have lots of electrolytes.

Grapes, cabbage (but it might cause a lot of gas that can be painful), and prunes work the best in my experience. Also, 2 teaspoons of Epsom Salt mixed in about 1/2 cup of warm water will clean you out really well. Just hold your nose and chug it down fast, and have something like juice out for you to drink the second you're done to drink to get rid of the taste.

cabbage is a "gas maker". and different foods work for different people. prunes work for most ( but not me) oranges work for a friend and bananas another friend. eating lots of fruit and fresh veggies is a good way to go because of the fiber but don't count on a certain one as a laxative unless it works for you

Legumes

Prunes
Dates
Raisins
Dried Apricots
etc.

Try dried fruits, they should work.

Try prunes first. Then dried figs but only eat one or two to gauge the reaction.

try bananas and milk.
drinking 2-3 glasses of warm water also works. walk and drink
