I'm finding it really hard to be a vegitarian?!

Question: I'm finding it really hard to be a vegitarian?
I'm 14 and decided to become vegi this time last week and I'm finding it quite hard. Is it normal to find it hard at the beginning or am I just not cut out to be one?

Despite what some will say - humans are not designed to be vegetarian - you will now get all the wierdos crawling out of the woodwork, telling you you have to stop eating meat - YOU DON'T - meat in moderation is good for you and contains protein and fats that you body needs - veggies don't give you that.

Second point - if we weren't supposed to eat meat, WHY do we have teeth designed to eat meat (and veg) ???????

i also turned vegetarian after 'meet your meat'
after i watched it i was sick when my mother made me eat chicken that night and i refused to eat meat again, it wasn't difficult for me because i've always wanted to be meat free and that video made me stand up to my mum who didnt want me to become vegetarian. i've been vegi for a year and 5 months now and i will never change back, i dont want to eat meat again.
I suggest you watch the video on youtube, it might help you to stop the cravings, but im warning you its horrific and dont watch it if you dont like blood, you see the way the industry murders animals.

Yes, it will be hard. Humans evolved to get some nutrients from meat or other animal products. It's harder to get protein from veggies than from meat. it's harder to get iron from veggies than meat. Soy contains oxalates which inhibits your body's ability to absorb calcium and iron. Lysine, one important amino acid that makes up protein is found only in legumes (beans).

It's not a simple matter to get the nutrients you need from just vegetables.

But I've never been able to understand why someone objects to killing a cow for my diet, yet doesn't bat an eye at killing field mice and bunny rabbits in the fields for their grains and veggies. Well, actually, I do recognize hypocrites when I see one.

More at the link:

"Animals of the field are killed by several factors, including:

1. Tractors and farm implements run over them.
2. Plows and cultivators destroy underground burrows and kill animals.
3. Removal of the crops (harvest) removes ground cover allowing animals on the surface to be killed by predators.
4. Application of pesticides."

Trust me, the first few weeks are the hardest. I have been a vegetarian for almost two years now and I know it gets easier after a while. Don't give up, we need more vegetarians in the world.

If your finding it too hard, gradually cut down. Firstly, give up red meat (like beef and pork) and after a month or two give up chicken and then fish (unless you want to be a pescetarian- a fish-eating vegetarian).

hope I helped :)

You could get a book at the library about vegetarianism and a recipe book for vegetarians. Read up on how to get your nutrients and protein which is sometimes a problem for vegetarians. You will find recipes that will fit into your family's diet with some tweaking. You might even cook some of the recipes for your family. There are many recipes that can be vegetarian with only a few changes. If your family like some of the recipes you make, they will not be nagging at you to eat meat and you'll have leftovers to take for your lunch at school.

I'm basically the same age as you and believe exactly the same.
It is hard at first, but go supremarket hunting for vegetarian food and find some you like. Also make lots and lots of food you like and freeze it so whenever you think whenever you think was this a good idea?? there will be lots of food you love

and for you people who say that we were designed to eat meat, the animals that you eat weren't born to be eaten either. what is the point of being born to be eaten?? and we are not trying to save the world we are trying to save the 10.306 cows
2262.4 chickens
25.138 pigs
75.415 turkeys
6.0332 ducks
4273.5 fish

Total: 6652.9 animals we eat in 75 years.

Hi, i went vegetarian when i was 13. i saw this video call meet your meat, and after watching it. i thought to myself "i just cant be a part of that anymore, form now on, im going vegetarian." and the first few days, or even weeks i did find it hard. but everything's hard at first. but after awhile, trust me, it'll become second nature! right now im 14, and meat just doesnt seem like food to me anymore. the longer you go, the easier itll get.

so keep going. dont give up now!
:)

It becomes very easy if you go to -----> peta.org <---- and watch some videos! Don't listen to the other people, being a vegetarian is extremely healthy and beneficial to your body:) And become a member of PETA, protest, hand out fliers and stickers, let the facts be known! The torture animals have to endure is INSANE! Good Luck:)

no, you just need to think like someone who never eats meat and finds it strange to do so.

There;s all kinds ofvegetarains in the world, they just get on with it. Think like an Indian, or Chinese person who eats soups, noodles, vegetables etc

im eleven and have been a vegitarian for 4 months now it is quite hard at first theres this thing called quorn that tastes EXACLEY like meat but its made out of soya its really tasty and it will get easier as you go on hope i helped xx

I would imagine it is going to be hard it's almost along the lines of giving up smoking so try weaning yourself off instead of just stop eating meat.

try harder to be. if you can't then change your mind to something else.

just try new recipes and new dishes at restaurants

it is very hard to quit meat cold turkey. i suggest to wean your self off of it. just cut back on your intake. you do need to make sure you are finding protein in other forms. if you dont your body will react negatively and you will end up getting really sick. i give you a lot of credit for making this lifestyle change. good luck!

don't be one then?
humans are suppose to eat animals?
GOSH WHY DO PEOPLE INSIST ON BREAKING THE FOOD CYCLE?! :(

so stop being a vegetarian. It is stupid and unhealthy anyway. Do you really feel like you are saving the planet?
