How hard is it to become vegan?!

Question: How hard is it to become vegan?
I have been accustomed to eating meat for 19 years. But I have been contemplating giving it a shot. So how to undo the harm that has already been done?

Answers:

It's very easy to become vegan.

You stop putting all animal products in your mouth-fish, cow, pig, sheep, chicken, milk, cheese, yoghurt, butter.

Then you have to STAY being vegan. That might be where your habits of eating dead animal flesh and animal breast milk starts to slip back.

It's about being very very conscious and knowing exactly what you put in your mouth.
Any time you start to put any one of those items near your mouth- stop.
And put something else in instead.

Take your emotions out of it, and it is easy.

You don't do it at once, I won't recommend that even if you have the whole ideology already. Slowly transition into vegetarianism, then veganism. That's how i did it. It's actually pretty easy. Anticipate false starts and don't try to be a zealot, you'll likely screw up (a big part of it is finding out what is vegetarian, this is more complicated than it sounds. They actually put fish chemicals into orange juice and most commercial bread contains meat derived additives).

A vegan is a person that does not eat any meat AND dairy products. Being a vegan is extremely difficult as most products have dairy in it:

You might as well stop eating...
Sandwiches
Pasta (contains eggs)
Couscous (is a tiny pasta, contains eggs)
Noodles (contains eggs)
Alfredo sauce (contains butter)
Bread (contains eggs and milk)
Cream of Wheat
Cereal (some contain traces of eggs and milk)
Crackers (made with shortening, which is animal lard)
Pretzels (contains with eggs)
Coffee (contains with milk)
Cornbread (contains eggs)
Mac and Cheese
Nutella sandwich spread (contains hoofs of animals)
Mashed Potatoes (contains milk)
Soup (some are made with stock, which are bones of animals)
Clam chowder (made with milk)
Rice pilaf (made with butter)
Risotto (made with butter)
Eggs
Pancakes and waffles (contains milk and butter)
Chicken pot pie, quiche, and sheperd's pie (contains milk and butter)
Yogurt (contains milk)
Collared greens (some are made with meat)
Pizza
Candy bars and chocolate (contains milk)
Potsticker (wrappers is made with eggs)
Fried foods (as some as deep fried with animal fat)

Desserts - Cakes, cookies, brownies, ice cream, pies, pastries, cupcakes (all contain milk, butter, eggs, and shortening. Shortening is made from animal lards). You have to look for vegan desserts.
Also - avoid any meat and gelatin products
You also have to check if the restaurant serves any dairy products in the foods.

Not hard at all. :) I ate meat for almost 17 years before I became vegan. Once you cut out animal products from your diet, your body will start detoxing, flushing out all the rotting meat from your intestines and riding cholesterol from your arteries. You should definitely do some research to find out what ingredients you need to avoid when buying stuff from a store, and what items you need to replace your animal by-products. Check out www.tryveg.com for lots of information on how to go vegan and what to eat. A lot of vegans don't go vegan overnight, they slowly cut out the animals products until it's all gone. Doing it overnight might make it harder than it needs to be.
good luck :)

It depends on the person. For me, it wasn't that bad because I knew it was right for me after doing research about how animals are treated and how it would be good for my health.
I'd recommend becoming vegetarian first. Just cut out meat for a couple of weeks, then start to eliminate milk and eggs. Then start checking the ingredients for animal-derived ingredients.
Make sure you're eating a variety of fruits, vegetables, nuts/seeds, grains, beans, ect. The vegan food pyramid is very helpful: http://www.chooseveg.com/vegan-food-pyra…
You can replace your milk with soy, almond, coconut, or rice milk. I personally recommend Silk almond milk. It has more calcium than cows milk and half the calories!
It's honestly not that bad as long as you stick with it. It becomes really easy really quickly.

Well the only way that would be easy in my opinion is taking it one day at a time. If you were an active meat eater for 19 years, it might be tough to get accustomed to it. But if you're really determined, it shouldn't be too hard. If you do become vegan, be sure to get your protein though, a lot of starting vegans forget to get in important nutrients in the beginning. Chick peas, tofu, nuts etc...

well a BIT of research, but this should be 2 minute research, not 2 weeks research. go vegan now, take a vegan multivitamin for some health insurance until you have time to plan out a more natural diet http://wayfaringvegans.weebly.com/recomm…
and heres a list of vegan foods high in protien and calcium (respectively)
http://wayfaringvegans.weebly.com/recomm…
your B12 is in most cereals (read the nutrition list), nutritional yeast (which tastes better than it sounds lol), energy drinks, some soymilks, and its also in the vegan multivitamin

Go.vegetarian first. Then vegan. Hard. Very hard. I was a vegan for a year and gave it up because the interior of my car has leather inside and true vegans don't wear leather or drive cars with leather interiors. Good luck tho. Make sure you take plenty vitamins since you'll go beyond skinny soon. Centrum a-z will do the Jon nicely.

I'm trying to become vegetarian. If u have a SamS club near u they sell vegan burgers, that taste EXACTLY like hamburgers. I think there called Boca burgers. But anything I learn I'll send to ya.

stop eating meat, and using animal-products:
you are now vegan
