Tell people why I am a vegetarian?!

Question: Tell people why I am a vegetarian?
I am 15 and people always ask me why I became vegetarian, I am one for ethical reasons but I usually say I just did and try to brush it off because I don't want to offend anyone I guess. Like it would come up if we are eating something so I don't want them to feel bad about eating meat or think I'm weird for being one :\

Answers:

Yeah, I remember when I was vegetarian and had to come up with explanations so often it felt like I had rehearsed them. I really like your question! If you are eating with them and don't want to make them feel uncomfortable, just say you're one for health reasons. Otherwise just tell them the truth, maybe they are just genuinely curious.

I suppose they are just impressed with you.and curious. I must say, how respectful and aware you are of other people's feelings. An attitude such as yours, will go very far.

As long as what you tell them,is accepted and left at that, it's fine.

If they push it, tell them that it is your choice to be a vegetarian, and you are not enquiring about their eating of meat.

Take care.

Respectful individuals

its nice that you actually dont want to hurt others feelings ;-)

but soemtimes its ok to be honest, even if it does
cos you cant always put YOUR feelings to the side for others

if its important for you to say, and you get asked all the time, just answer as you feel comfortably answering, but dont answer with something you dont, even when you think it makes them feel better

its easy to just say,' i dont agree with how we treat the animals, so i dont really want to eat them , i respect everyones choices, this is mine'

if soemone is offended by that, then maybe they themselves have some issue with their own views, but its not your fault

" I think it's disgusting to eat things with a vein in them, because then I know it used to be alive and why should I be eating this living animal when I'm going to be hungry again in a few hours.
If murder is the answer to my greed, then I want no part of it".

"Meat sits in your intestine for weeks, I don't like the idea of A.hole cancer".

The End.

you could say ..."it makes me feel better" . That wouldn't be a lie since you stated it was for ethical reasons. Some people are smart enough to understand what you mean while others may interpret it to mean health reasons.

I think people should feel bad for eating meat sometimes. The amount of meat being produced in the United States is a bit excessive, so I admire you for becoming a fellow vegetarian.

Seems to me vegetarians are more concerned with what meat eaters are thinking than what meat eaters actually think about vegetarians. Honey, we dont really care as long as we can have our steak and eat it too.

I just say, against animal cruelty and leave it at that.
That is my reason, and it seems it's yours so be proud of that

tell em that you had it in the past but didn't like the taste of meat...
