Should I even be a vegetarian?!

Question: Should I even be a vegetarian?
Heya!
I'm 14 and today is my 3 week anniversary of becoming a vegetarian! i saw what they do to animals in a documentary in a science class and i've refused to eat meat ever since. but there's one big problem - i absolutely hate fruit! this is very bad. i'm fine with vegetables but when i eat fruit it's not the taste i normally hate, it's the texture. i hate the squishy feeling and noise it makes when i chew it and when i try fruit i want to be sick. is this a weird psychological thing? does anyone else have this problem or have any really good tips on trying fruit? by the way, i absolutely hate strawberries and always have and always will so there's no point even mentioning those!
i've tryed eating fruit in small pieces and have only ever liked one type of smoothie. what should i do? i don't want to live my life being a vegetarian who hates fruit! i'm trying to lose weight and i probably never will at this rate :( should i just not be a vegetarian because i'm not getting what i need from meat that i could get from fruit instead?

Answers:

For one, you don't get ANY nutrients that you get in fruit from meat. People say meat is healthy, it is not. It is full of saturated fat and grease, personally I am a vegetarian and I am a teen, I don't like the taste of meat at all.

Vegetarian Proteins:
Soya beans & products e.g. soya milk, tofu, tempeh
Hemp
Quinoa
Amaranth
Buckwheat
Micro algae such as chlorella & spirulina
Beans on wholegrain toast
Rice or millet with vegetable & bean curry
Chickpea houmous on rye cracker
Stir-fry or steamed veg with rice noodles & cashew nuts

The vitamins from fruit you need whether you a vegetarian, vegan, or a meat eater, is always going to be needed in a healthy diet. Have you tried smoothies? Fruit drinks? I'm sure there must be ONE fruit out there you like! Have a look at your local supermarket or stall and you can try to find a fruit that looks nice, and just eat small pieces. Have you tried mixing it with cereal? You could mix it in with things so you don't taste it as much.

Hope this helped!

Please tell me how you came to the conclusion after watching this film how being a vegetarian makes a difference to what you seen?? Being veg/vegan does nothing to change the facts and to be honest you ignoring it you are helping the intensive and industrial farming/slaughter!!

In any diet it is important to eat a varied lifestyle, if you skimp on the vital minerals needed you will suffer. So being a fussy eater will not be in your favour!!

I hate fruit too, but because of when I bite into it the juice is so sweet it tastes bitter and my jaws hurt whenever I eat something bitter.

Try taking pills, the ones of the vitamins your lacking.

I'm going to become a vegetarian soon.

Eat pureed fruit or fruit sauces. If you are the same person who eats a snack and a veggie chicken sandwich everyday and that's it, you have worse things to worry about like malnutrition.

Why not try making fruit smoothies?

Just stick to that one smoothie you like and take the fruit its made from and try eating that fruit.

SOme fruit doesn't have that gross texture- I love dates, dried figs and dried apricots- you could try dried fruit.

Coconut is different texture too. Apples aren;t soft, and neither are pineapples ( well ,not very).
Fruit isn't 100% crucial- you can get vitamin C, A, E from all kind of veg and legmues, and anti-oxidants too.

A lot of people never eat fruit- Tibetans, people in very cold climates. SO its not going to kill you.
There is nothing in meat that you canot get from other food- iron, calcium, protein, folic acid- these are all in vegetables and grains and nuts much more than meat anyway- and meat has no fibre and lots of saturated fat.

try dried fruit like bananas are nice the are not squishy, dried strawberry is almost crunchy, some fruit is chewy. and try putting it in food like apple is nice in curry and just experiment.

edit you can get all the goodness, protean oils etc from fruit and veg that you can get from meat and also have you seen the shape of a loins teeth compared to ours you can clearly see they are ment to eat meat., have you ever seen a lion riding a tractor in a field picking strawberrys? no thats because they are born to hunt. we have large brains for solving problems like how do we get food. so we use that to learn how to grow crops and in some cases, hunt.

im vegetarian, i like fruit but dont eat that much fruit cos i stuff me face with other stuff.

All fruit is different, so I don't know exactly what you mean by saying you hate all fruit because it is squishy. Apples are not squishy. Just one example. What fruit do you not like exactly? That's a very hyperbolic statement to say you hate all fruit. That's like saying you hate all bread. There are tons of types and they are all different. I was a massively picky eater before I went vegan, I hated bell peppers, now I eat them almost every day. I learned to like them because I appreciate how good for me they are. If you want to be healthy you have to rise above petty dislikes and learn to appreciate things for their beneficial properties.

Your brain is going to wither away you need meat.
Who cares what they do to animals.
Animals eat animals it's nature and half of those videos are bull...
They are made by crazy environmentalists and aren't very accurate.
Lions rip other animals to shreds for food.
Do you think the little lion cubs that watch say "ew that's horrible ima be a vegetarian"?
Don't be stupid meat is essential to your body and brain so to answer your question no you shouldn't be a vegetarian...
P.s. Your body needs fruit to
