Trying to become a Vegan!?....?!
I am trying to slowly become a Vegan because I care about my health. I read the book 'Skinny B***h' and really believe in what they say and think it's a good idea.
I'm not too bothered by not eating meat or fish as I have never really liked these anyway!
My problem is, I live in the UK and in the book they mention places to get things and names of their favorite alternatives in the US.
Any vegans out there in the UK care to enlighten me on the best alternatives?
E.g. Cheese?? I love cheese and want one that tastes great!
I don't mind if I have to buy the products online but I don't want them to be stupidly expensive.
I also hate soy milk. I'm hoping to try other brands or other alternatives....
All other food alternatives would be great!
Thanks!

Almond milk- it's good.
Go to Chinatown or some really good Thai or Chinese supermarket, they sell a lot of bakes and flavoured marinated tofu- which is 100% different to that nasty white flayy stuff in square tubs.
Nuts, legumes, rice, make your own vegan burgers, with spices and have fun, you don't need expensive online stuff, you can find all the things you need easily in any tesco even...!
I was over there about two and a half years ago on holiday, and I found quite a good selection of milk alternatives available (a lot more than I can get in Australia, anyway). In one shop in Stratford I even found a quinoa & (something - maybe hazelnut) milk. The UK is more vegan-friendly than either the US or Australia is, so you shouldn't have much of a problem. You just have to know where to start looking.
You want to be healthy? Vegan isn't the answer! Also, I believe that Vegans don't eat cheese at all, so that's that one out of the way! Just cut down on the junk food and exercise more. Although, I think that you're probably a very skinny girl, who's trying to be a trendy hippy anyway. Good luck
Veganism has nothing to do with health.
I found my sense of well-being improved endlessly after totally cutting refined sugars from my diet.
But that's me.
