I just bought a bag of potatoes and want to know what to do with them instead of just?!
Answers:
Tonight I put them in a George Foreman mean grilling m/c. Slice to about 8 mm thick and do for about 10 mins.
First time I tried it ( just got grill) and they where lovely.
Curry!
Aloo palak already mentioned, my favourite is aloo matar (potato and peas). Aloo gobi is with cauliflower, another good one. Or you can just add them to any dahl or chick pea curry.

*stir fry with other veggies, some dry herbs/spices, hunks of onion, some garlic, etc.
*mashed with gravy
*cubed and boiled with a beschamel sauce on top...great with broccoli or spinach too
*roasted alone or with other root veggies, some onion, garlic, rosemary, all purpose spice, toss with a little olive oil & spread on a cookie sheet to bake
*any kind of veggie curry
*french fries...you can bake them if you don't have a deep fryer or don't want to do it on the stovetop or just don't want the added fat
*scalloped or au gratin (easy to do vegan too)
*potato salad
*gnocchi (not as hard to make from scratch as it might seem)
*pierogi (also easier than it might seem)
*sliced thinly & fried in an iron skillet until slightly blackened and crispy in parts...excellent with onions added too
*potato pancakes...yum!
*put some in samosas or pot stickers...any kind of dumpling type thing
*hash browns or home fries
*use in veg'n shepherds pie
*add to a pot pie
The possibilities are endless, really. :)
My mom makes potatoes with cheese! Cut the potato up into little squares or whatever and cook them with some olive oil, add some tomatoes, spinach, onion, seasonings, and before they are done cooking, add the cheese on top turn it off and cover it so the cheese can melt! This is a side dish btw.
?
Set oven to 350.
Chop potatoes into bite-sized chunks.
Dump into mixing bowl with olive oil.
Stir in salt, pepper, thyme, and garlic (powder's fine) so the mixture coats all the potato pieces.
Spread out on cookie sheet to roast in oven.
Potatoes are done when tender (poke with fork).
If you don't have thyme, rosemary is also very good. Or herbs de Provence.
Sorry I don't have proper measurements - it's all up to you.
I like to fry them.
Cut them up into little cubs or slices. Keep the skin on them. But some vegetable oil in a pan. Season them with salt, pepper, garlic powder , oregano and basil and some red pepper. fry them up until they are golden brown. Eat them with a little ketchup. Sooo good!
Look up potato recipes or casseroles on the web or vegweb.com.
One thing i like to do with potatos is boil em, fry them in square little chunks with onion and garlic, and then eat them in a borrito with egg, salsa, whatever else you like in your borritos.
slice them into wedges, and dip in butter... then coat in a combination of parmesan cheese and breadcrumbs, and put on a baking sheet and bake at 350 until they are nice and brown.
Make aaloo-palak (potato-spinach curry)....look here for details. Good luck!
