How do I turn vegetarian slowly? What steps should I take?!

Question: How do I turn vegetarian slowly? What steps should I take?
I'm a meat eater ( So I'm sorry if I offended you ). But I want to change that. It's just so damn cruel seeing animals getting slaughtered especially seeing them skinned alive.
I just want to take small steps before coming fully vegetarian. I'm thirteen. So it's best to start early, so I'll get used easily. I'll eat less meat, chicken, all those. Then I will completely stop. I don't wanna worry my parents by not eating meat now. Cause I'm still growing and I want to grow taller.
What are the early steps should I take?
By the way, I don't really eat much meat these days. Maybe I can handle it.

Answers:

Not offended at all. There are plenty of vegetarians who were once meat-eaters (including myself!), so we can offer a lot of advice and support. I eliminated pork products from my diet first, and then I phased out beef, fish, and poultry. It really isn't hard to get plenty of protein -- if you eat a good balance of foods, you'll be fine. If you'd like, you can research vegetarian nutrition before you explain your decision to your parents, and they'll probably be really impressed with how knowledgeable and serious you are about your lifestyle change.

Feel free to post more questions if you have additional concerns. And welcome to the club! :)

It really bothers me too and I want to be a vegetarian. So I stopped eating meat one day a week--Fridays. It helps me understand what it would be like to be vegetarian without doing it all the time. I chose Friday because it forces me to work around restaurant menus when I go out to eat. I plan to increase the number of days I don't eat meat slowly over time. Maybe you could try this too.

cook half meat half tofu
tofu will get the flavor of meat that you are used to, but you are eating tofu, and it's changing the mind gradually, preparing you to like it. beside if you eat tofu, you will get enough proteins which are what your parents like to see.

See if you eat meat on a daily basis. Cut that down to having meat say about 2-3 times a week. Slowly you can start reducing your meat consumption and then slowly turn vegetarian.

- eating vegies slowly ^^.
- conditioning yourself to eat vegetables :)

Don't do it. It's not healthy.

Just stop putting animals in your mouth now.
Vegetarians are healthier than meat eaters anyway. Meat has hormones which stung your growth or make you menstruate early and grwo huge boobs- stay away from that junk food.

Sulfites, hormones, salt, added water and fat, seriously, that's good to you?

Waiting to grow taller first is such a myth. If you were serious you'd do it now. The fact you'd staving it off so you can "grow taller" first THEN stop eating dead animals is just hyppocrisy actually.

So, tall people don't exist in India, China or anywhere the population is Vegetarian?
Huh. Maybe it's the pygmy meat eaters from Congo that have me confused, or the short people of Mexico ( meat eaters) that got into my head- I just thought that meat eaters ( seen East Los Angeles recently, they all eat meat and they're all short and fat) grew short and stunted.

Early steps.

Stop putting dead animals near your mouth.
Stand up for something now, not later.
Take your parents on, they'll appreciate having raised someone with balls.

Pilates and ballet training. If you take ballet seriously you could see your height increase by half an inch or less. The point is to LOOK elongated, and have proportionately long, elegant legs.

Play basketball and do streches.
Eat well balanced meals and include all

make sure u get atleast 8 hours of sleep (cause while ur sleeping ur body releases some growth hormone)
Drinking milk may help you get taller, but it might make you fatter. Drink one or two glasses of milk a day.
Hanging onto a bar or something helps to lengthen your spine and will, in the long run, increase your height.
