Vegetarians have bad breath?!

Question: Vegetarians have bad breath?
I just told a few people in school I want to try to be a vegetarian, and they all reacted like this: Noooooo if you don't eat meat you'll have bad breath!!
What are they talking about, is this true? Is there an explanation? Because I don't see the connection between not eating meat and have bad breath

Answers:

There is no connection. Ignore them.

Vegetarian for over 20 years, never been told I have bad breath.

Halitosis is mainly caused by bacteria in the mouth. Proper dental hygiene will prevent it. There are conditions of the stomach that can cause bad breath but it has nothing to do with diet.
As an aside, re the fella that asked have you ever smelled dog and horse ****-I have never smelled any feces that appealed to me, but I have smelled dog and horse BREATH-give me the horse any day.

They don't know what they're talking about.
Your breath smells due to the contents of your stomach.
Have you ever smelled horse$hit? And have you ever smelled dog$hit?
Rotten meat always smells a lot worse than rotten vegetables.
