How do you make blah brown rice taste yummy?!
Answers:
I cook my rice in a stock or seasoned water. I don't typically have veggie stock on hand but do have a vegetable bouillon seasoning that I add to water. Any other seasonings are fine, though. Cumin, garlic, coriander, pepper, whatever you like.
I also like to add in vegetables (cut real small) and/or beans when I cook. A can of crushed tomatoes does wonders, too!
If the rice is already cooked, try mixing it with cooked beans or mash some avocado into it. You can also make fried rice...here's a recipe of mine: http://dailyveganeats.tumblr.com/post/34…
you can make it into fried rice, fry a little up w/ some tofu crumbles, peas carrots and soy sauce.
you can make it into spanish rice, fry a little up w/ cumin, garlic powder and tomato sauce. be careful not to go to heavy on the tomato sauce. add a sprinkle of sea salt.
you can add a little soy balance vegan butter.
you can add a little veganaise, sounds weird but tastes good, try a sample size to see if you like it.
fry it up w/ your favorite beans and some spices, yum.
mix it up w/ a little of your favorite soup, chili, lentil soup, split pea, black bean.
add onion, tomato, cumin, garlic, salt & pepper, green pepper, you can do a can of mixed vegetables. plenty of options!... fry it up put sesame seeds, mushrooms, and soy sauce in it.
If you cook wholegrain brown rice with a chicken or beef stock in lieu of water, it becomes softer and more palatable.
Add a bullion cube to the wate, or use veggie broth instead of water
