Can one be a vegetarian if they don't like beans and soy?!
Answers:
Beans and soy seem like staples because most people don't bother to do any informational check on nutrition and they just repeat what they've been told.
Beans and soy are good sources of protein, but also iron and calcium. I wrote some information on these three nutrients so you can see where else they're found.

Iron: http://dailyveganeats.tumblr.com/post/26…
These articles explain the nutrient, where it's found, and CHEAP, NATURAL sources of food you can add into your diet if you want to boost that nutrient's prevalence.
You don't have to eat soy; a lot of vegetarians consume tofu, seitan, and tempeh because they have a similar texture to meat, but it's not really necessary. If you're an adult, you don't need as much protein in your diet as you would be getting if you consumed meat, and all vegetables have protein, so I wouldn't worry too much.
I find it very hard to believe, though, that there are no beans that you like. Are you just eating plain beans or are you cooking them as part of a dish. Try some Indian recipes; hummus is also good.
try hummus.
or edamame. it's are delicious. crunchy and succulent like nuts.
nut are also a great source of veggie protein. any nut you like.
but yea, as others have said, don't just eat the beans plain. put them into things. add them to spagetti sauce. soup. chili. vegetarian flavored rice mixes.
if you like cheese, try grilled cheese with some beans.
lentil soup is really good too.
quinoa is a plant, the only plant that is a complete protein. you can find it in the rice or pasta aisle. it cooks fast and you can add any flavors you like to it. it tastes similar to white rice.
nutritional yeast is another thing veggies and vegans use to augment their diets. it's also a complete protein and comes fortified with other essential nurtients. add it to any food for a kick of aminos and vitamins.
truth be told, if you eat enough milk, cheese and nuts you don't even need beans. just don't overdo the dairy. that can have unpleasant gastro-intenstinal results.
The tricky part is protein in a vegetarian diet. Unless you pay attention to maintaining the amount of protein and other vitamins it could actually be harmful to be vegetarian. This is why soy and beans are quite common. They are both high in you guessed it, protein. However, so are nuts, peanut butter
you can skip the soy but there is no way you can cut the beans out. how could anyone not like beans? there are so many different types. if you don't like them, the sensible thing would be to not eat them stand alone, but rather sneak them into your foods. i put beans in my soups, rice dishes, salads and pastas. i could never imagine being vegan if someone took my beans away. good luck and god bless.
I hate beans of all kinds and gave up soy milk for almond milk because I hated it. I also don't have a huge love for tofu. I've made it without eating them but only because what I eat is balanced and I only eat junkfood as a snack every once in awhile.
You can still eat TVP and Quorn, and of course Vegetables, it's in the name :L
I be a vegetarian :D
Yes you can. However, most vegetarians never last. good luck with your quest lol
