lol, its funny when people say they 'cant live' without eating meat. I used to have a diet rich in meat, until I became a pescetarian (vegetarian with an exception of fish) then became vegetarian 5 years ago. It is possible to survive XD I think It's a subject you have to feel strongly about, I don't see the point in changing if you have to use all your will power to abstain from eating meat- however people become vegetarians for all kinds of reasons :) It's nice to see that you've given it some thought, your right, you do have nothing to lose :) if you are serious about the change then you should consider purchasing some food supplements. I take Iron tablets + vitamin C tablets, to keep my blood healthy and prevent things like anemia. Aside from this, Ive felt a lot healthier since, and I lost a fair amount of weight (which was helpful) Disadvantages are if you come from a household were meat it the main priority (like mine) then you may have to buy/make separate meals, and this can sometimes be quite costly. Ive noticed over the years that vegetarians are being given more choice nowadays, like in supermarkets and restaurants, theres a great load of delicious vegetarian dishes out there- after a while, you start to think of these as better tasting than their meaty competitors anyway XD

Advantages:

* It's compassionate to animals
* It's better for the environment (because of all the fossil fuels slaughterhouses use, and other resources)
* It lessens world hunger (it takes 22 lbs of grain to produce 1 pound of edible flesh)
* It's very healthy, especially if done right. Just keep an eye on your protein content, and check your labels. You risks of heart disease, high blood pressure & cholesterol, certain cancers, obesity will decrease dramatically.

Disadvantages
* Sometimes going out or going to parties can be a little hard, but when in doubt, get a salad, and for parties eat beforehand

The biggest disadvantage... THE STUPID QUESTIONS PEOPLE ASK & SAY! Trust me, you'll find out

Advantages: You'll feel healthier. Your grocery bill will be cheaper (unless you load up on fake meats/imitation foods). You'll have an almost cruelty-free diet.

Disadvantages: If you're picky, you may not find menu items to eat at certain restaurants (just remember: MANY restaurants will gladly hold the meat if you ask). There are many hidden ingredients to watch out for (gelatin, carmine, rennet, ...view source). Loading up on fake/imitation meat meals can get quite pricey. You may get taunted by the kids at school if you brag about being Vegetarian.

Vegetarian since '04, Vegan since '09/'10.

I don't think being a vegetarian is a good idea because you might not get all the protein you need in your day. I would not be able to live without meat. But you can do what you want if you believe it is right.

you have a lot to loose like very important nutrients and minerals
