Is being a vegetarian actually healthier ?!

Question: Is being a vegetarian actually healthier ?
I was a vegetarian for about 1 year a couple years ago because I went to work at my cousins friend's farm and witnessed cattle getting the nuggets cut off. ANYWAY I started to eat meat again because I was always tired turns out I still am always tired so it wasn't the diet (im am due for some blood work so I am getting it checked out)

But I want ACTUAL facts on being a veggie being healthier I already want to start for the animals I have been watching some dolphin and farm videos so either way I most likely will be starting again.
Also how can i get people to **** OFF when they bug me about my diet? All my beauty and cleaning products are not animal tested it's just the food now

Answers:

cats need to eat meat to survive. they are carnivores. you look like a cat.

When compared to eating a diet full of foods from hormonally altered, sick animals; eating a vegan diet would be preferable. If we were eating a balanced diet with occasional animal products from healthy animals, it might be better than a full-on vegan diet. It's just easier to ensure that you're getting all your amino acids when you incorporate some meat into your diet. Soy products can alter your hormone balance if you overdo it...

Now, there are ethical ramifications to eating meat that some people can't resolve. For them, being vegan is the only option.

vegetarians are not healthier because they eat dairy products. milk is the devil. the 3 main ingredients in milk are bacteria, pus and glue. the healthiest diet is one that is meat free and dairy free. but the problem is that some people that are vegetarian/vegan are not nourishing themselves properly. you need to eat a lot of fruits, veggies, nuts, legumes, and grains. whole foods. good luck and god bless.

No it is not healthier. not by a long chalk. you will be told yes by people who wants everyone to believe what they believe and because they think they are right but they are not doctors or scientists and are no experts in the matter. it is not healthier. they will say that to make you believe it and they probably even believe it themselves because they want to and won't think outside of it.

I guarantee that i will get thumbs down because it is the truth and people don't like hearing the truth.

Here's a link to a Mayo Clinic article about reducing meat for health benefits:

And here's a link to the abstract of the Oxford study that compared vegetarians mortality rates to meat-eaters:

Nope. The Japanese have the longest lifespan on the planet and they are omnivores.

No, vegetarians are not healthier. There isn't a lot of research available on vegetarians. There is research showing that members of the 7th Day Adventist church (which encourages a vegetarian diet) tend to be healthier. But that is tied in with their religious observances, stable marriages, not smoking, drinking, etc, so it's not really relevant to most people. And much of that research has been done by the ADA which is housed at the 7th Day Adventist church university at Loma Linda, CA.

Vegetarians have to pay special attention to their diet, so probably more attention to their over all health than the general population.

In fact vegetarians are more likely to be deficient in several important nutrients, like B12. A B12 deficiency puts you more at risk for heart disease and stroke. Then there's the fact that the heme iron in meat is better absorbed and used by your body than the non heme iron in veggies.
