If we discovered sentient plant life, would you eat it?!

Question: If we discovered sentient plant life, would you eat it?
For example: a photosynthesizing organism that goes through normal plant fertilization, yet has the ability to move around and gather nutrients by feeding on small insects and such.
More likely scenarios are welcome.

I'm just trying to glean why some people are vegetarian/vegan.

Answers:

Depends how it tastes! I appreciate this is aimed at veggies, but I still think this is a valid answer. Would it be killed humanely? Would it be free range or farmed? If farmed - how intensively? Personally if it tastes good - get it on a plate. Others may not have such a liberal view as to the source of their food, so all the arguments placed regarding meat products would surely apply?

plants have no brain or central nervous system.
No blood system, no veins, nu pumping of blood, no chemical reactions in a central vortex which has the ability to think or feel pain.
They are as inanimate as a cloud or mountain.
The are not living- they are like hair- the seed makes them grow, as does the soil.
Plants we eat are the stem or the ovary of the plant- we can still eat the plant part without killing the plants, but in any case, the plants itself- the seed, does not have a brain, nervous system or any form of structure to think and feel.

Plants are a biological reaction to organic fertilisation. They are not beings.
Creatures which live, with brain, heart, pumping vessels, are living "creatures".

People go veg for different reasons. If it's the killing of living creatures which bothers people, for an unecessary piece of flesh to eat for protein and whatever, grease, then its understandable to not want to do this.

Plants alredy do move toward light- a reaction of chlorophyl.
They already feed off other organisms.

Most animals show a marked resistance to being chained, captured, killed.
It's obvious, they don't want to be caged- they wouldn't NEED the cage if they were so happy, would they?

Most people are vegetarian for DIFFERENT reasons. Some people hate the fact that live animals are butchered to entertain huma greed.
Others for religious reasons, compassion reasons, health.

Your point mentions the movement and free will of a plant. Free "will" is a thought and/or natural preference process that differentiates all living creatures from each other and makes each one individual. ALl living creatures in this way, have a personality.

Plant have no mind, they're a products of another germination without a brain.

So yes , if Seymour from Little Shop of Horrors actually cam ealive for real, I'd like to respect what he wants to do.

Like a venus fly trap? (They work via chemical reaction rather than central nervous system, fyi) The idea of sentience doesn't bother me as I would need plants in order to survive regardless. I think what would be a little "icky" is the idea of eating a carnivorous plant. I'll stick with my regular menu. ;)

I would love to eat the scientists discovers plants because of lots of experiment they would have discover new things i think which will be precious

like the green giant! haha. im not a vegetarian but i would eat a plant that could move around and such as long as its not poisonous.

Why would I? There are plenty of other non-animal foods to eat which we know are not sentient.

vegan biologist

It depends on whether it has feelings and thoughts.

I would not eat it.

No, I would not.

no
