Actually you can insure even a car not in your name. I would not want to know why but it is possible. Call the agent that carries the insurance now, if it has one, and have it transferred to your name and ask what rates you are going to get due to the change. OK? If not insured, call an agent and ask them to give you a quote. Price varies by company so it might be best to call around to more than one company and check out their prices. Good luck.
You put this in the wrong category :) You can have car insurance that covers you no matter what car you drive, even for a car that`s not in your name. You may have to be under the same insurance plan as your dad though? You`d have to check w/ the ins company on that. And then once the title is switched to you, you just contact the ins company and let them know.
Yes as long as there is proof that you are the new owner of the car. You can request your father to execute a deed of transfer or a deed of sale under your name. This will be proof enough that you are the new owner of the car.
