EDIT: LOL. Keep clutching at those straws douchie.

I'm vegetarian and I went to Turkey in 2007 and they have great vegetarian food. I wasn't vegetarian at the time but I do remember the wonderfull bread with plain yogurt, salad of cucumber and tomato, cheese pie, spinach pie, grilled vegetables with rice, dwali (stuffed grape leaves) zuchini pancake and of course baklava. Since I have been to turkey and actuley lived there for 6 months I would have to say being a vegetarian there would be fairly easy. Being a vegan may be a bit hard when you go into town but you could get around. Vegans can use soy yogurt. I've had soy yogurt that tastes like authentic Greek or Turkish style plain yogurt.

There are vegans yogurts made from tofu. As to the taste, I can't say. However, veganism is a lifestyle choice which requires commitment and possibly sacrifice. I admire people who are willing to work to achieve ideals.
As for myself, I am not vegan and I enjoy yogurt-but I could go the rest of my life without eating any of the cuisines you mention without shedding a tear. You make the assumption that everyone else in the entire world enjoys the same things you do and that is always a mistake.

well I've been to turkey and lived there for a couple of month and yes they do like yogurt but it's not like you have to get it on everything. it's often on the side or you can ask for no yogurt. some of my meat eating friends did this too cause they didn't like Turkish yogurt.
If you wanted to make a Turkish dish at home you could use vegan yogurt. I doubt that the yogurt that you get from the stores over here is "natural" and homemade so it would taste different anyways.

Turkey is an amazing country and everyone should be so lucky to have the chance to visit it at least once in their lifetime.

Wholesoy is a brand of vegan soy yogurt.

Ricera foods have their version of rice yogurt.

& So Delicious have a version of coconut yogurt.

the coconut yogurt has a natural sweetness to their plain version.
the soy version is more like the traditional as far as consistency.
and the rice version is mildly flavored and perfect for international cuisine.

One can easily make yogurt out of soy milk or any other non-dairy milk. There's nothing "unnatural" about it. Scald the milk and cool it a bit, add a little yogurt starter, let it rest in a warm place, and there's your yogurt, same as if you made it from dairy milk.
