How is it possible to be vegetarian but still eat fish and chicken?!
My brother said a few months ago that he became a vegetarian but then went on to say he still eats chicken and fish. o.O
So does that mean that anyone can be a vegetarian? What qualifies someone to be a vegetarian?
Answers:
In short...it's not. TECHNICALLY, they could be considered pollotarian. But in my (and most true vegetarians') opinions, that's pretty much BS. Pescetarians and pollotarians are NOT types of vegetarians--vegetarians eat no meat whatsoever. They are simply on a restricted-meat diet. Meat also includes gelatin, rennet, etc.
Carnivore: Eats meat only. Usually raw. People are NOT carnivores.
Omnivore: Eats meat and plants--the majority of the human race.
Pollotarian: Eats no meat except chicken; eats eggs and dairy, etc.
Pescetarian: Eats no meat except fish; eats eggs, dairy, etc.
Lacto-ovo-vegetarian: Eats no meat whatsoever; eats eggs, dairy, etc.
Lacto-vegetarian: Eats no meat or eggs; may consume dairy.
Ovo-vegetarian: Eats no meat or dairy; may consume eggs.
Strict vegetarian/dietary vegan: Eats no meat, dairy, eggs, honey--nothing that comes from an animal. Still uses leather, wool, etc.
Vegan: No longer a diet, but a lifestyle. Consumes no animal products, and uses nothing made from an animal to the extent that is practical.
Fruitarian: Eats no meat or animal products, or any root vegetables. Subsists largely on fruit and nuts.
A vegetarian is someone who does not eat no type of meat.
?Vegans: Strict vegetarians who do not eat meat of any kind, eggs, dairy products, or even do not consume processed foods containing any animal-derived ingredients such as gelatin are termed as vegans. There also includes a subset of vegans who call themselves as ‘raw vegans’ who only consume unprocessed vegan foods.
?Fruitarians: Some people have carried the concept of vegetarianism to another extreme wherein the people only eat fresh fruits, these people are called fruitarians.
?Lacto-ovo-Vegetarians: Vegetarians who do not eat pork, beef, poultry, fish, or animal flesh of any kind, but do consume eggs and dairy products are called lacto-ovo vegetarians.
?Lacto Vegetarians: Vegetarians who do not eat any type of animal meat or even poultry and eggs but consume milk are called lacto vegetarians.
?Ovo Vegetarians: Vegetarians who do not eat any kind of animal flesh or meat, and do not even consume milk, but eat eggs are called ovo vegetarians.
?Pescatarian: Pescatarians are those who refrain from eating all types of meat with the exception of fish. Usually this type of diet results owing to the demand for nutritional requirements fulfilled by fish.
?Flexitarians: Flexitarians are those who mostly stick to a vegetarian diet but occasionally eat meat.
?Pollo-Vegetarians: People who eat poultry, such as chicken, turkey, and duck but no other type of animal flesh and meat and the regular vegetarian ingredients are termed as pollo vegetarians
Vegetarians do not eat dead animals or ingredients which result from dead animals, like rennet, gelatin and lard. They certainly do not eat chicken or fish.
Your brother is not a vegetarian.
it is not.
People are deluded. They like to be labelled, maybe it makes them feel superior. They give people who actually do eat a vegetarian diet a bad name.
No, your brother's an idiot. You can't be a vegetarian if you eat meat, and both fish and chicken is. A vegetarian does NOT eat meat.
no
but that doesnt stop many people saying it does
vegetarian doesnt eat any animal flesh, including seafoods
regardless of what some seem to think, its up to them tho, if they dont know who they are, its their issue
;-)
Some vegetarians eat fish, but a true vegetarian does not eat chicken
A Pescetarianist is a person who adds fish and shelfish into their normal vegitarian diet.
lol no you cannot be a vegetarian if you eat ANY kind of flesh.
