How to cook broccoli without offending?!

Question: How to cook broccoli without offending?
I love taking healthy, convenient steam-in-the-bag broccoli to work for lunch, but the whole office smells horrible after it exits the microwave and my co-workers get grumpy. Is there any way to microwave it without grossing everyone out? I've tried glass containers but as soon as the lid is removed the smell permeates cube-world. Eating it raw or buying the frozen stuff are not options for me - they both taste weird to me. Any tips?

Answers:

definitely know where your coming from i went through the same thing what i used to do is take broccoli fresh to work and take a cup and put my portion of broccoli in it and go to the cooler and fill it up with hot water till it softened up then put my seasonings on it etc.

Put a can of deodrant in the microwave, turn on until it blows up & then cook your brocolli. The deodrant will cover the smell

Now if you didn't notice that sarcasm, i'm saying not to put deodrant in a microwave.
How about cooking it in the microwave & then moving somewhere else to eat it, perhaps outside or by a window? It is what i do when peeling egg-shells to stop the house smelling up.

Or you could just give brocolli a miss every few days?

Well, it's hard to keep it from creating an unpleasant odor in the microwave, but once it's done cooking, you can cover it with aluminum foil -- it conceals odor. Just don't put aluminum foil in the microwave! Maybe wiping down the microwave afterwards with an eco-friendly all-purpose cleaner would help.

You can eat it raw with hummus if you don't like eating it raw as it is. Or you can cook it at home and bring it in a box. Good luck!

Take carrots and leave the broccoli at home for supper.

burnt popcorn should cover the smell just fine
